Default Excess Road Noise

Just bought a 99 SS and it seems to have a lot more road noise than i remember with my last Camaro...any ideas? Both cars were TTops and 6 speeds if that helps.

What type of "road noise"? Like the sound of wind rushing past a window seal, or the hum of tires on the pavement? If it's the latter, then it might just be the tires. Some tread patterns make a lot more noise than others.

That's what I was thinking. Depending on when the previous owner put the tires on, age can make a difference as well (as well as mileage/wear).

Maybe a bit more of a description of your problem would help if tires aren't the issue.

Sorry for not being more specific. It seems to be more of the tires than any leaks in the seals and wind coming in. I'll have to take a better look at the tires.

Some things like removed interior panels or carpet or this and that will greatly introduce more road noise in your car. I always find this out when im working on mine and need to go and get something. Like already said tires are a big factor also.

I had the same problem with my z28 after I bought it. My noise sounded like "loud tires"
An example would be like a big 4x4 truck with mud tires. Well, not that loud but you get the point. Anyway, it got louder and louder; even after I bought brand new tires for it. Turns out my pinion bearing was shot in the rear end
Hopefully it's just your tires though!
However, If it is the rear end, you can find a used one pretty easily for around $200. Only took me and a buddy 3 hours to swap the entire rear also

ya man look at the tires, some of the tread patterns on the cheaper tires make noise. and if the tires are directional check to make sure they are mounted correctly. check the psi too.
