Default Lid Test in new GMHTP

For any one with lid questions, go buy the new GMHTP. They test 7 lids at the track. The verdict-there all pretty damn close.

GMHTP is about 6 years late.

We should email them everytime someone posts the following:

"A lid is a lid is a lid"

I've got the exact same picture that you're using as an avatar as my background.

Maybe they should test different LT headers, that would be something nice to see. I still think a lid is a lid, and they were behind on this one. Still buy every issue though.

Guys I'd advise you to stop now all the talk about GMHTP.
I got an e-mail from one of the editors and he was PISSED that all we do is make fun of the magazine on this forum.

Wow, finally I get a chance to take back all the nasty things I said in this post:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...9&page=1&pp=20

So Rick, Am I off the hook now?

If they dont like all the complaining, then do a shootout on something that we all want to know about, like headers, or heads. We already know about the dam lids. This coming from someone who buys the magazine everytime it comes out.

I personally would love to see a shootout on the headers/exhaust. Which is the best header? Testing done on a completely stock car, and then on a stroker/big cube. Measure AF ratio, adjust AF after each switch, that simple. Thanks.

Default gmhp lid comparison

read that article last night - even though they are pretty close, the difference between my lid (G2 - LGMotorsports) and the best on the dyno (Granatelli) was about 5-6 HP & 7-8 TQ. I have to say I'm tempted to sell mine and get the GMS model when I get my SSRA next week. I know a lid is a lid but......

mako22- Keep your lid. Don't believe everything you read.

GMHTP is great reading materials for the bathroom. I wouldn't get my tech info there though.

some people seem to forget that all cars respond different to mods; mechanical condition, year, mileage, maintanace all play a part. i doubt you'd gain much my swapping lids. im only going to swap out my SLP lid for fitment issues with a direct flow lid.

my friend got me a subscription to GMHTP for christmas, lets just say i didnt re-new it

I read GMHTP for the 3rdGen and TR stuff, but get my 4thGen info from this site. It is a decent mag, but it seems to be too non-confrontational. If GMHTP had a vendor's part explode and damage the car they were testing, they would still compliment the part. That's why they don't do many shootouts unless on stuff you would expect similar results...like lids. The Reader's Rides has been pretty stale and most of the cars that GMHTP tests are "shop cars." I'll renew my subscription after I move, but just for entertainment value...

What got me was...how come at the beginning of the article it says, if you think all lids are the same you might be surprised at the results? The results sure seemed to say a lid is a lid is a lid to me...

You took the words right out of my mouth. I think all in all it's a great mag with some nice articles.
