Default Installing the LS6 intake manifold

I am waiting on my LS6 intake manifold in the mail and was wondering how hard it is to intall. I have taken my stock one off before and was wondering if it is a direct bolt up like the stock ls1 intake. If not, what else has to be done? I have bought a new gasket but as far as anything else......

I read a how to on here but it confused me, videos are more helpful lol, thanks guys

YOu don't need the coolant pipe. Just knock off the ridges on the bottom.

Yea, it only takes a few min to knock the tabs off. And it will save you 50 bucks.

Yep, I finally did the install on mine last night. I hammer and chiseled all of the tabs off (took 10mins). Theres 3/4" clearance under the ls6 intake and the ls1 coolant lines only take up 1/2" of space. Use some type of lube on the o-rings on the injectors so they'll slide right into the manifold.

If you do use lubricant on the injector o-rings, make sure its silicone-based. You could use silicone spray lube, or silicone based grease (sil-glide, ect).

Do not use any type of petroleum based products (motor oil, WD40, ect), those will ruin the o-rings.

I spent hours reading up on what type of lube to use and got mixed answers. Ended up using electric bulb grease.

electric bulb grease is used to prevent corrosion.. you should have used silicone... do not use a petroleum based product.. you can use KY or some AstroGlide... I can verify, His/Her KY can be used.. hehe..

Anti-corrosion is the selling point on the electric lube. Good for things battery operated.

The install is pretty straight forward. A ton of info and detailed instructions out there. One thing I would recommend while you are in there, and everyone may not agree, put in fresh knock sensors and harness. They are known to go bad on these engines. At least with me, it always seems this crap fails after I've already been in the area and I have to tear it down all over again. Might also think about relocating the oil pressure sensor. Be much easier to change when it craps out or starts leaking. Ask me how I know.
