Bought a 01 z28. few questions.
i bought a 01 z28 nbm with 124k miles for 3500. its a4. im picking it up monday the oil pressure gauge doesnt work. it says low oil check gauges and service engine light. thee guy said he put in a new trans and the shop didnt plug something in which is causing those lights to come on. my question is..
is that possible?
what plugs could they have left unplugged?
how to fix?
would i need to drops the trans to plug it back in?
thanks for any help. i will post pics monday or tuesday.

Well, the reason for that could be this:
As for this....
Most definitely possibile, but you won't know without checking the code and seeing what it is.
Most likely thing would be an O2 sensor. They probably had to drop a portion of the exhaust to get the trans in/out, and may have forgotten to plug the wiring harness back in for the O2 sensor.
If it's an O2 sensor, just plug it back in and clear the codes.
Not if it's an O2 sensor.
Keep in mind, this is all just speculation on my part, since you haven't mentioned what the DTC (code) is that's causing the SES light. There could be a number of codes, all related to different things that may or may not have anything to do with the trans R&R and/or the O2 sensors. The O2s are just the first thing that came to my mind because the exhaust was probably dropped to access the trans, and this is something they may have forgotten to plug back in (based on the statement of the previous owner).
Keep in mind, even once you "plug back in" whatever it was, there is no telling how many other codes there might be. There are dozens of things that can go wrong to cause an SES light, and you really won't know where to start looking until you can read the codes.

Oh off topic but it's got manuel windows. I thought almost all z28d came with with power windows unless it's the b4c or a 1le. Correct all my mistakes lol

i talked to the guy more today about the unplugged oil pressure gauge. he said its somewhere around the oil pan he cant get to it cuz its dropped crazy low. (someone thought it would be a good idea to heat up drop springs)
where exactly is the plug for the oil pressure gauge?

Maybe he's talking about the oil level sensor.

Wow man, a car with heated up lowering springs sounds like a hack job all around - it could have RTV instead of head gaskets....yes 3500 for that car doesn't sound bad if it were in running condition with no mods - but I wouldn't pay more than 2 grand if it has serious issues (I would treat it as a roller).
