if you can remove your cats in your state do it.you can have a tuner remove the back O2 sensor for no codes.

HAHA well she will grow to love the smell after you throw a big cam and heads on it while her seat is shaking...my GF doesn't complain about it, but she doesn't really ride it in it much since theres no A/C

all emissions equipment that came stock on your vehicle is "Required" to remain intact by federal law, so regardless of what state your in YES they are required.

Now some states/counties are easier to get away without emissions **** than others. In Texas, if your not in a emission county (near a major city, there's a list of emissions counties google it) then its way easier to get away with, but either way since these cars are OBDII they just scan it and don't really check the visual, but you still need to pass the visual inspection technically so you need hollow cats and sims or something to be 100% ok to pass. OR you can end up in a shop that doesn't care and it's no big deal, really depends where you go.

If a cop checks for cats and they aren't there, your getting a ticket anywhere in the country if the law is enforced correctly, but enforcement really varies place to place....

I dont run cats

I'm still waiting for a cop to get down on his hands and knees to actually try to see the converters, let alone find them. On a lowered car, I don't think it's possible.

Then again, if you do get a ticket, your court date is usually a month from the offense date. You could always "phone a friend" and install stock manifolds & cats, get inspected ($25 bucks?) and bring that paper to court.

Tell the judge you have no idea what the hell the cop was looking at, but according to your CURRENT state inspection sticker, as well as the signed form from the shop stating they are INDEED present, the converters are there and present.

*rules in favor of the defendant* Have a nice day, sir.
