I purchased a SLP lid thinking "maybe after I do everything (lid, exhaust, p/p T.b) I might noticed a little something...but not much....boy was I wrong. I put it on and just finished mashing the gas....holy crap. I think I have a freak on my hands. Before, second to first downshifts from a 25mph were a hit or miss on if I would spin the tires, and if I did, who knew how much. Same with second gear chirps. Sometimes they were there, and when present they were no more then a quiet "chirp". NOW, the second to first downshift I nuke the rear tires consistantly, second gear is now a "CHIIRP/spin", with the tires STRUGGLING to keep traction thru the second gear powerband.

Sorry, just wanted to share my excitement. The car was fun to drive before, but now.....yah

Lids have been proven for years to gain 7-13rwhp on average on stock engine applications, so it's not going to be a huge difference by itself, and certainly won't transform a car into a monster version of it's former self. Did you change the air filter at the same time? Maybe the old one was clogged. Maybe some cooler weather is also making the car feel faster and making traction worse.

Nope, only difference is the lid. I did plugs/wires at the beginning of the week, as well as an oil change. I didn't feel any difference with those except the car was just smoother. The weather is the same as it always is (gotta love Cali). I've done intakes with all my cars over the years (gen1 Lightning, sn95 cobra, CSVT) and never felt a difference with them. This is a difference, a very noticeable difference.

Don't jinx me lol. I've only had the car for about 4k miles and have had the transmission done twice (first with 100 miles, 3rd/4th clutches. second time 2k later, defective pump gear)

I was really considering it when the trans was out, but decided against it. I had a 2800? in my full bolt on gen 1 and didnt really care how it daily drove, that and the hit in gas mileage I took. This car is a daily driver, and that's it.

It's 7-13rwhp. That is all you can really hope to gain with a lid on a stock engine.

Traction (or lack of traction) is a poor measure of performance gain. You could take the car to the track or put it on a dyno and do runs with the stock lid vs. the aftermarket lid to see the actual gains, which will be about ~10rwhp on average.

I didn't notice any seat of the pants difference at all after putting on a lid, or even after installing headers and a cutout. The lid resulted in a minimal gain at the dragstrip, as expected. The only things that I've ever done to the car that made a noticeable difference in the way it drove were the 3.42 gears and the 2800 stall (both now gone ). Glad you're enjoying the car though.

Me, my fiance, a friend, and my dad could all feel a difference when I did the FRA mod (and nothing else to boot). Sometimes you can just feel a difference, no matter what the actual gains.

Hey uh, question. My car had an MTI lid on it, but I swapped out the entire assembly for the the WS6's stock raised lid/box set up; did I just take a step back performance-wise?

lol. i didnt notice much with a lib but noticed a tone with headers after a tune. and got it retuned after an ls6 intake and felt some more gain. sounds like a tune is the key for me after major mods

That is definitely a step backward. The only good thing about the WS6 assembly is the larger opening on the lower air box. The WS6 lid is exactly the same as a stock Z28/Formula/Trans Am/SS(non-blackwing) lid in every way except the ram air decal, so using a stock lid will cost you power over the aftermarket lid you had before. But the good news is that you can just simply attach that MTI lid to the WS6 lower air box and get all the gains of the aftermarket lid while still getting the benefits of the larger lower air box opening.

Jesus H. Christ. I was so intent on perfectly copying the WS6 on my clone that I didn't think about the lids when I swapped the intake boxes. I've been driving the car like this for a couple of years now!!! Thanks RPM...
