It has been amazing to be on here i have got so much help. Im the first to tell ya i dont know much about cars so i like learning from all of you. So heres my next question. My car is 343/350. I am wanting to make a 700 hp car. I am thinking about taking it to a local shop here called craven performance. They did my gears, transmission and clutch. what kind of price rance am i looking at. what suggesstions should i make to them. what should i watch out for?

What kind of build are you wanting? Turbo? Supercharger? Nitrous?

Besides above are you staying with a ls1? Or maybe a 408+ stroker? Then decide power adder, after that your then looking at correct supporting mods. I'm gunna say if you go with ls3 427 stroker, fast 102/102, cam, heads, exhaust, fuel, and spray close to 8-10 grand depending on labor costs. Then add like 3 grand to go forced induction. Idk about hp numbers but that's kind of the build I was thinking of doing one day then saw the price tag and decided to go with track numbers over dyno numbers lol.


But why the 700 mark? Thats a big jump from 340. Just being nosey is all.

Stereotypical noob thread is stereotypical. I would love to see how many of these types of newbie threads with plans for big power were actually fulfilled. I'm betting you could count them on one hand. The active majority of owners on this site seem to be young guys (myself included); not successful 50+ year-olds with a bunch of discretionary income available to dump into a car.

If I didn't have at least 10 grand ready to play with I wouldn't even be thinking about that amount of power. With that said, OP, if you have the means to build a badass 700HP car-- go for it.

A good HCI build + 200 shot will get you there, or pretty close. Pretty much everything on your car will need to be upgraded to do that though; fueling, suspension, etc.

get a second job.it will cost twice as much as you plan for.like the HCI + NOS .turbos are great,but more complicated.will your current drive train handle the power you want ?a big can of worm to dump tons of money into.

$8,000 may get your engine to make 700hp but you'll need a lot more coin to upgrade everything else on the car; fuel system, brakes, suspension, entire drivetrain, framework, etc. You'll need to make the car itself be able to handle the amount of power the engine makes. $8 grand won't cut it, if it's done right.

Honestly, that is probably right around where you would be if you did what I told you above, and built it properly.

Yea idk about making 700 hp with 8 grand. Only because you will break stuff. If you put 5000 into a fab9 built tranny made to hold that power. Then you may be able to swing a heads cam setup with a used 102/102 setup and get around 5-550. Or instead of going for the big power out the gate use the 8 grand to build a strong setup and then save up for the more performance side. Like build a nice strong stroker, trans, and rearend and maybe be able to swing a heads cam setup. Sure you will only be around 400ish depending but it wont break. Then save up for an intake, fuel and forced induction. Dont listen to the haters, it can be done just might take longer a more money then your wanting/have right now

Thats what I was saying. Get a strong rear, built trans, and if you have the money get the motor worked over.
