Default which cam to buy?

Hey guys. Im building a refreshed LQ4 with LS2 pistons and rods. Stock L92 heads, probably some exhaust manifolds, while sticking with the stock intake for the time being. This is all going in a reg cab/short box silverado with an SS 4:10 rear end and a 4L85E transmission. Just interested in the right cam/torque converter combo. I don't want anything too aggressive in the cam department causing clearance issues etc. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

If you want to spend the money on a new one, get a custom grind cam from pat g or Fti(ed Curtis). Peak power around 6800 or so and a 3500-3800 stall.

If you want used or off the shelf, try Texas speed. Their ms3 is pretty good. Stay around .600 lift or less.112-114lsa.23x/24x dur. Just to get an idea. Best of luck. Manifolds will restrict you big

are you retaining stock exhaust manifolds ,or do you plan on getting headers ?you would benefit from a cam that was designed to work with l92/ls3 heads.

I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on cams. I already have a money eating machine. This is kind of a feeler project to see how I like the V8/RWD stuff. How will aftermarket manifolds will restrict me big time? Sorry, I'm from the world of GTR's where more flow = more go. Are you saying I should stick with stock mani's?

This is why I'm here in the newb section! Should I just try to pick some stock L92 manifolds up, or aftermarket? "Buddhas" mentioned an LSA cam which is essentially a supercharged LS3. So he seems to be sending me on the right track.

Just put the stock cam in it. Trucks are made to pull race cars, not drag them. JK This debate could go on forever.LOL trucks are heavy so cams that make power up high and big converters work well. Pat G will spec you a can for a small fee but the guys at comp will do it for free. Although Pat's will be a custom grind spec and possibly yield a little more power where you want it for your AP and tastes. The isn't a million horse cam out there.

get headers if you can afford them.you can get a custom cam for $425 .how much dose your truck weigh ? how big of stall is your torque converter ? check Texas Speed if you decide to run a shelf cam, they have cam pkgs for $600 .

Why not get forged pistons instead. That way when you mod down the road you will have stronger bottom end

Haha because Im about 50k deep into my fully built R32 GTR which will never stop asking for money. I already have a FAST car if I want to race. If I was putting forged pistons in you'd better believe it would be Twin Turbo as well. That being said I'm just looking for something practical but fun. Like, trailer my car to the track with the truck and run em both hahaha.

a 210\218 makes power real low and is good for a tow vehicle, LS6 would be a good
up grade for a P\U

Lingenfelter has a small tow friendly cam with a good amount of additional
exhaust timing which the L92 heads need since the EX/IN ratio is poor. I
think it's the GT2-3......IIRC it's 207/220 on a wide lobe separaton for a
smooth idle and a broad torque band. It may even be compatible with the
GM yellow valve springs and a 2400-2800 converter should be nice.
