Default 2002 ZO6 Cam swap into 2000 LS1

Has anyone put a 02 and up ZO6 cam and springs on there earlier model LS1?? I know the ZO6 valves were longer to compensate for the smaller base circle cam but I have heard of people doing the swap without either using LS6 valves or 7.45 inch pushrods and having no problems. I have heard this only causes problems if you are hitting your rev limiter constantly.

Sorry, but you are not asking a question you are just making a statement...are you asking whether or not it can be done?

Thats what I was thinking. I like the specs on the 02 ZO6 cam. I drive my car almost every day and want to keep it streetable but still hit low 12's or high 11's NA. I also like the fact I don't have to run out right away and get the car tuned so it runs right. Did you stick with your stock injectors ??

I had a comp cam, 221/221 561/561 114lsa and the only thing I changed was the stock springs to dual springs and ran a 12.20 at 114...and it was very streetable and a nice sound to go along with it. Not very much money invested.

Problem is I can get a new 02 ZO6 cam and springs cheaper than that cam alone. With my heads at the shop getting ported and everything else going on the car I think it should be fine.

if i was getting my heads ported id consider a more aggressive cam.as you mentioned i got mine because of the price and streetability.

I went with the 02 Z06 cam kit from sdpc. It came with the everything you need. Manley springs and Titanium retainers, 7.45 hardened pushrods, Rollmaster timing chain set, and all the gaskets you will need. I added the Yella Terra's and an ASP pulley to make it a very reliable, and very streetable setup. I've tuned it myself with HP Tuners, I'm too cheap to dyno this setup. With the headwork your having done you will be very pleased!

Low power is about even with the stock LS1 cam. Power picks up in the upper RPM's.

This cam doesn't look that great compared to an aftermarket cam, but it idles like stock and will pass emissions and give a decent top end. And its cheap.
