Default $1700 truck worth the drivetrain?

Hey guys I'm new to ls1tech and wanted to ask a quick question(though the answer maybe be obvious) I've been searching through many options and I think I want my nova powered by the 6.0 with the 5.3 coming is as close second. There's an ad in my local Craigslist for a guy selling his 99 3/4 ton. In fact this is his ad

1999 Chevy 3/4 ton, 6.0 liter Vortec engine, 4L80E transmission, cab mostly complete, aluminum 8 lug wheels with good tires, no bed, call for more details.

He told me it has 100k on it. Doesn't sound bad considering I'll have the harness as well and I can scrap the truck or maybe even flip it to somebody who actually realizes what we have on our Hands... Any input is great. For what it's worth I'm just looking to have maybe 350-500 reliable hp nothing too crazy. Maybe I can get that with the 5.3 but this seems like a good deal.

Well he called and we chatted for a while and after everything he said he wants 950 for the motor, wiring harness and ECu... Maybe I should just by the truck to have the tranny complete with it too... Hmmmm I will offer him less for it tho..lol

If I remember correctly, the first 1-1.5 years of the 6.0 had iron heads and
are therefore less desirable.....you could always just pick up some used 243
heads and swap w/cam to meet your power goals.

Ls3/l92 heads are great for 6.0 truck blocks.

So I talked him down to 750 but it's just the complete motor with the harness that seems almost complete and no ecu:/ but it's still all there lol need to scrap the exhaust manifolds. And find a decent harness ECu combo. I found one off an 08 6.0 for 150 think it'll work?
