Most reliable way to 400 hp for Daily Driver?
O.k story goes like, this...New 2002 Hawk automatic..about as pretty as a hotty in fishnet stockings....But eventually, the Stock-ings need to come off, on the girls, and on the Hawk. So I've got the dream car, finally got the dream job to pay for the dream car, and for now the dream car has to be a daily driver. So what is the smartest, most reliable, headache free way to push 400+ Hp.
Is it
A.) Heads, Cam, LT headers, TC
B.) Nitrous
C.) Send it to Ligenfelter
D.) How did you do it...
E.) Is there no easy way?
Love to hear suggestions and price quotes...remember keep it a Daily Driver, yet it still has to wake my *** up in the morning commute to work.
Thanks

H/C package, full boltons, good suspension and tires. Oh and a Procharger ;-) that'll put you way over 400(plus ability to lay it to the ground and control her) and you won't have to pay mucho dinero to have a Lingenfelter sticker/emblem put on your car.

Yeah, I'd have to agree w/ cyphur_traq on everything, except the H/C package. If all you're wanting is 400+, then any Forced Induction setup will do you just fine. The guys in the Forced Induction section on this site are very good BTW, so ask around. How much are you looking at spending? The FI is going to run you about 5k, on average for the setup, the extra's you'll need, and the tune job. Suspension you can spend anywhere from nothing to 20k depending on what your thing is, but you can get some very good upgrades for just a couple hundred dollars. Get the sub-frame connectors, strut tower brace, larger sway bars (fore & aft), and lower the car about an inch..... that right there will be a night/day difference, and only run you $600 bones. You'll also want a new torque converter. Don't go crazy w/ this, and get the super huge, super numbers things that people try to push, just get one that's a bit larger than the one you've got now, and you will DEFINATELY not regret it. Good luck on your build, and congrats on the new job.

Eh, I guess I just don't see the point of going FI w/o really lettin her breath. H/C packages properly matched with any decent FI setup are force multipliers....they work hand in hand and can mean a world of difference. If you have the money to do so, I would highly suggest both.

Screw the turbo/super.. charger. That's no fun, IMO. Modding is a blast, once you get started. My vote is for the bolt-ons and H/C package. It'll easily bring you 400rwhp, beat 99.5% of the cars on the road, and you'll know the ins and outs of your car. If you're still not happy, then add a shot of nitrous. Good luck with your dream car.

Great Suggestions, now when you mean full bolt ons..what does that all include? And we are forgetting the "taking the stockings off the chicks" part too. Seriously, any suggestions on appearence mods for a Hawk, or does it really need any? So do you vote for
A.) a lot of Zaino so she can see herself in the reflection and do what naughty girls do in front of the mirro at night
B.) Velour seats with **** carpet
C.) A kickin stereo system
D.) A delightfully tacky license plate like DR.LUV
E.) If you see a chick standing on the side of the road, just floor the 400 hp monster of a car you have and blow the clothes right off her body, and then turn around apologize, and offer her a ride home so she doesn't have to go streakin.
Seriously, thanks for the suggestions, but keep them coming with specifics how you guys hit the 400 rwhp mark.
Thanks

Just throw on a 100 shot of nitrous and you'll be 400+ rwhp.
If your uneasy about nitrous, then I'd go for cam + LT headers + cutout or cat-back exhaust. With the right cam you don't even need to upgrade the heads. This would put you at 400 RWHP as well. Get the nitrous too so you can have 500 when you want it though. You're going to need a beefier clutch as well. If you plan on drag racing the car you're going to also need a 9-inch or 12-bolt because the rearends in these cars are very weak.

The cheap and easy way is N20. If you have the money, a Supercharger.
My car is a Daily Driver.
I started with N20, then H/C's and finally FI.
If I had to do it all over again. It would be a Supercharger first, then add N20.

There's no right answer, other than as a married man, I would love to see clothes blown off hot chicks, or fine naked girls in the car, maybe more than having 400rwhp. Personally I would go the heads cam route, at least that's my plan. I'm not getting headers and going pretty mild on the duration/LSA cam with a higher lift, so I hope to net 375 rwhp. I think I'm upgrading this winter.
