Default ram air hood question???????

I have aftermarket ram air hood (vfn) on my 99 t/a. There is a cut out on the inside of the hood that i assume is supossed to line up with the lid(ram air) . Well it doesn't I can fix this by just making the cut out a little bigger. Do true ram air cars scoops from the factory line up with the airbox? Should I fix this problem? Thx

It should line up with the air intake slot below the air lid.

Edit: Best pic I can find of it. It's the gap between the the lid clasps and where it says Ram Air HO:

Not positive, but I believe the factory ram air cars had a taller base for the lid to allow for the larger opening.

You may want to look into a chris1313 or SSRA ram air kit. Many would argue that that type of ram air kit is more effective. If your really set on using through the hood ram air you'll need a WS6 lower air box and need to make something similar to the BG ram air kit that I believe is no longer available. The free ram air mod is also fairly effective but some people say it can cause heat soak if the car is sitting at ideal to long.

Is ws6 lower air box assembly a direct bolt on? What would i have to do to make it fit?

Yep, it's direct bolt-on. The VFN opening still doesn't line up with it though. I had a VFN hood on my 01 T/A and I had to hack the opening to get it to mate up with the WS6 airbox. Worked out fine once I did that. I put weatherstripping around it and it made for a direct shot of outside air into the intake. When you've got the hood with the scoops, I'm all for using them rather than a bottom feeder system.

That being said, I have a WS6 airbox lying around and would be willing to trade for a base version. PM me if you're interested.
