For handling you can't beat good shocks. I personally would highly recommend Koni SAs (http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=20&ModelID=7) as these are a great bang for the buck with down right unreal handling difference and great, firm BMW-like ride quality. If you can't afford any other suspension mods after that then so be it as you will be more than satisfied with these and you can save for other mods later (none of which will compare to what these do for you). If you end up wanting more look into strano springs and strano (or UMI) swaybars, as these are the ideal off the shelf springs and swaybars for handling and ride.

Also get new wheels/tires ASAP as I just read that you went with 235s... lame... These cars come with 275/40/17s from the factory and many of the auto-x guys are running 315/35/17s on all four corners...

Finally, the cam mod was something that entered my thinking just a little while ago. As my signature states, I've got long tubes with a cat back, and from reading some other threads, the cam seemed the next step to take (at least from how I understood it). However, as you stated, I realized that there were probably a multitude of supporting upgrades that needed to take place to make the most of the cam. That's the main reason I wanted to get everyone's advice on it. Any other suggestions based on what I've given you here?
Technically you are right that its "the next step", just wanted to warn you it isn't as simple as buying a cam and putting it in.

MAC TCI sucks ! don't guide this guy the wrong way !

pick a reputable converter such as Yank or other leading vendors. it will cost but do it right the first time and be done !

Thanks for the detailed response man, helps me out a lot. I'm thinking I'm going to go with the bigger wheels/tires, and a shock and spring upgrade. I wish I had enough to do the stall converter and trans cooling upgrades as well, but I don't think it's in the cards.

The cam threads you linked to in your response are something that's going to be open in my browser for a while, until I get the money to do the setup right haha. Thanks again man.

I think I decided to get some better tires, along with better shocks/springs, but the stall converter discussion has really let me see how much it could help the car. It's definitely on my list as part of my next round of mods!

Thats good, a great stall will help out a lot but you gotta learn how to drive it first. Also suspension will help keep you planted which thats probably my next mod lol
