Default track preperations

Im taking my stock '00 SS to the track tonight for the first time to get a base line #, are there any things i should do/know before going to the strip?

any guess as to what a stock 2000 SS A4 with 32,000 miles should run?

If you hook it right and have a decent reaction time you should be 13.2-5 ish.

I'm going to say it'll be closer to 13.5.

On stock tires, I'd say around 13.6 with a good launch.

There are some good "pointers for first-timers"
out there, probably find a lot more useful stuff
of that sort in the Drag Racing section. On the
stock tires, you will really benefit from some
launch practice to minimize right tire lift and
wheelspin in general. I can tell you from my
very limited track experience that floor-it-and-
paddlewheel is not the best technique for the
60' time.

My 2000 SS M6, ran 13.8 @ 104 stock and an A4 should be faster in the 1/4. My guess is 13.4.

Not really. It's just more consistent and easier to launch. Auto's don't trap as high of mph, but some are quicker just because they can get off the line easier without the wheel spin.

Stock with my 00 SS M6, I ran 13.5 @ 106. That was on a pretty crappy 2.2 60'. I guess it's just down to the driver.

My best so far is 13.4 @ 106 after LS1 Edit tune, Before Headers. We'll see what it does tomorrow at NED for Camaro/Firebird day. Hopeing for 12's after Headers and Ported TB.

well, were to start-- i just got back from the track >>>>14.001 @ 99.52 thats with a .546 reaction and 2.1 60' time (street tires). im happy with the time, all the other f-body guys at the track said it was right on par for an auto. i need to go up to dallas and run, i've heard of .3-.5 second drop in ET just runnin at a track in the dallas area. due to the change in altitude & climate.

Good point about the altitude and climate. What was the weather conditions when you were there? Temp, humidity, & barometer and what altitude? Smokemup.com has a nice conversion page that will convert you to some standard temp measurement. Higher altitude, humidity, and temp will slow you down. Higher Barometric pressure will speed ya up.

im not sure about the temp, humidity for last night, but earler in the day it was 95 degrees with about 50% humidity. it had cooled off to probibly about 80 but was still humid as hell. our track sits a little over 1,900FT.as for the barometer ? useing the NHRA elevation correction factor to sea level it was a 13.697 @ 101.77 mph. thanks for the website!
