Well, if you're talking about RWHP plan on spending 8k or more. It can be done but it's not easy to hit 500.

you should be able to make that with a cam and a 100 shot of nitrous on top. Thats if you install everything yourself. The supporting mods will add up quick and you might have to stretch that budget. This is assuming your car is working perfectly right now.

You need to get the basic bolt ons first before you do anything....a lid, long tubes, cat back exhaust, and a tune. If it's a 6spd an aftermarket shifter is practically mandatory IMO the stock one sucks so bad. If you have any money after those mods, get some 4.10 gears, they really wake it up!

you'll have a hard time getting to 500 wheel on a catfish with $2500.
start with the basics, like stated above. headers, intake, full exhaust,
shifter, and a tune. then save up for heads / cam / nitrous, etc...

Then save up for the clutch, suspension, tires, differential....

^ So true....once the modding starts, it can quickly snowball. OP if you have $2500 now, you might even consider selling or trading/upgrading with somebody who already dumped a ton of money in their Camaro....I see built cam/heads, stroked, and turbo LS1 cars pushing 500+HP for sale all the time around here, and they usually aren't bringing much more than stock blue book prices. Depends on the mileage and condition of your car...where's your sig anyway?

It might be better to spend 2-3K and end up with 500HP than spend 5-10K on your car....just saying!

A good heads cam setup should get you where you want to be w/ the 6spd.

I would work on your suspension first.. better to get that set up and after you will have an idea of what you want to do with the car. Plus, you won't be making too much power for the stock parts (usually leads to everything breaking then needing to be replaced). If you want power now, I would get your exhaust done and spray a 75-100 shot.

I wish I had taken care of my suspension before adding power.

cam, headers, ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, gears, ls6 intake (if boost) or Fast intake, and tune. Best bang for buck.

Just from what I've heard of others expirence is

Of course after tune up. All fluid changed. Rad. Tranny. Diff oil etc. plugs plug wires

1st lid then headers and exhaust
2nd build or get better rear end (some break with power others haven't, better safe than sorry.
3rd upgrade tranny and clutch
4th ls6 or fast intake
5th ported heads
6th custom cam built for your setup
(Intake heads and cam should be installed at same time)

As stated above you prolly won't hook very well which is where you can decided if you want to do shocks, Sfc, lca, sway bars, fatter tires, etc

Just do a search on here. Many build threads
