Whats wrong with my times
Tonight was my first night ever of going to the track. The weather was really really bad but i still think my times should be better. My reaction times were really slow at like .5 and .7 but i should still have ran better. My best was 14.00 at 103.73mph. Any idea's. Mods in my sig.

what calongo said. were you hooking at all? mis-shifting? even if you were spinning your mph should be higher than 103...with lid only and a stock shifter i went 13.3@108...so your missing something there. id say get some nitto's and try it again. but right now id have to say traction and driver skill (no insult intended) are limiting your et and mph.

Just like stated before - I run better then that stock ....
Being 1st time at the track could have a factor in it. The more you go the better your times will get. Even with good reaction time - if you dont know how to "drive" the car it will account for a major part in your times. No offense but with a newbie driving a car identical to yours with no experience at the track with turn out "higher" numbers and someone that has been racing for a while will turn in "lower" numbers. It just takes time to get used to it all. By all means I am not saying you cant drive - just stating it could be a factor.
Like someone stated that is a HIGH 12 to LOW 13 - STOCK ...... and with mods there is NO reason why you shouldnt hit better numbers.
Give it time and the more you go .... you will see the numbers drop
Have to say - Racing is VERY addicting and god I could live at the track during racing season ....
Good luck and have fun!

i went to gateway in madison, illinois. I didn't miss a shift any time and i looked like i shifted alright. I had it video taped and everything looked ok. Ya with the mods i wasnt expecting 14's. It is really frustrating even though it was my first time. I wasn't power shifting but i was far from granny shifting. Hopefully next tuesday I will be able to figure something out.

My best time has been a 12.9 @ 109.25 with a 60 of 2.03, and an r/t of .713. Your 60 does need some work, but you are probably not shifting correctly. Do you churp 2nd? If so dont do that, and you have to shift quickly. If you want good times, you have to shift like you mean it...I am a very good shifter, I just need to work on my launches, I think with a good launch and an r/t of .5ish I can drop my 60' to a 1.8ish, which will lower the et considerably.
Basically it will just take practice, practice, and more practice to figure out how your runs best.

I have learned to shift hard and fast into second and do it without chirping. It just takes practice to get it down right. As for the r/t I have heard both sides, that it matters and that it dosnt. It is my understanding that it 'can' matter depending on the kind of tree, and or type of race you are running in. But I am not sure, and dont really care for the most part. I do know that if I you can lower your 60' times your et drops, and I just assume that the lower you drop your r/t the quicker you will get through the 60 foot light. Basically it takes practice to know how to drive your M6.
My first run with my m6 was a 13.4 on stock tires with just a lid, slp ram air, slp maf, and slp bellows, and gears. Now my 60' was around a 2.2. When I added the LM and drag radials for my last track visit, I obviusly improved. BUT I had practiced launching and shifting. I will be the first to tell you my launches suck, and everyone says so. I cant do a healthy/smoky burnout to save my life. I always end up lettin go becuase I think my rear is going to kick around (and it does move side to side a bit). It just scares the **** out of me. Anyway. All you need to do is practice and your times will drop.

When you're first learning how to run at the track, just forget about your reaction times! People get so hung up on "leaving at the last yellow" they mess everything else up.
R/T has NOTHING to do with your ET or MPH!!!!
The only time it's important is when your are bracket racing or in elinations. Other than that, it has nothing to do with your time slip.
So yeah... those 60's aren't very good. You can get yourself down to a 2.0 on radials. I've only ever cut a 2.1 in my SS though... Also, you might not be missing shifts, but you might be shifting really slow.
With that mph, i'm guessing your bad 60's are from bogging and not spinning. Don't be afraid to launch a little hard because that'll keep your mph up.

Your 60fts are bad. I ran a 2.079 on street tires and my time was 8.7@82mph. That was my 1st time at the track ever. Also this track allowed you to run passengers and the 8.7 time was with me and 2 other passengers.
I expected much better times but with more practice at the track and drag radials hopefully i can get it down to 8.2s
Now even though my 60ft isn't that bad on street tires i thought i would have pulled a better time then the 8.7. Anyone else think so??

dude I think for your first time at the track 14. is pritty good. how much air do you have in your tiers? put 24lbs when you make your runs that will help your 60's don't do a smokey burnout with street tiers don't go in the water box just drive around the water box and then just churp your tiers to clean them off that should help but 14's are not bad for your first time! next time you will get into the 13's
