I wouldn't do it unless I was racing or showing off. It has little back pressure on the engine and you float the valves easier I think. Why would you do it all the time?

I had an open pipe on my truck for a few months and it didn't hurt anything.

If you still had cat's on you probably still had some back pressure. If your e cutout is after the cats you probably would be OK but I don't see the point of running with it open all the time.

Don't be a wuss, leave it open. It's not going to hurt a damn thing. Now if the wife threatens to never ride in your car again unless you close it, still leave it open. Keeps whiney chicks out.

well i still have my cats, and i caught a bunch of **** from my father when i bought this car, but once he saw and heard how my e-cut out worked everytime he rides in it he leaves it open and he loves the way it sounds...I got a big kick out of that! Anyway there seems to be an issue of having back pressure vs not. I've heard the LS1 likes some backpressure so should i just put the plate on and get a loudmouth??? THX!

Don't worry about hurting anything, cause you won't. Open or close based on what you prefer.

Well, when you dont have any backpressure, you will usually lose some torque... but the power gains make the cutout worth it.

My friend has had his cutout open for several months since he installed his headers. I think its only bad if cold air were to get back in the motor. If you have an electric cutout why would you have to cap it? Do you not have it hooked up?

Alot of my freinds run open cutouts without any problems. A couple for over 2 years now. I am going to switch my exaust to 2-3" street pro electric cutouts.

Exactly, I have it disconnected right now b/c the hinge flap is loose and it vibrates and rattles untill i can tighten it...
