No I have the SLP 85mm Which advance syour timing. I did not gain S***. I'm sure there is some gain but if your running the free ram air mod I don't think it would be a good idea.

No way you can get 10-18 hp no where near it. Despite what people on this forum say I did feel a diffrence SOTP maybe it was just me wanting to feel a diffrence.

"Mental" horsepower.

Descreening the MAF might be worth a few hp.

Don't do it if you have an automatic though, it'll fry it.

We are talking F-body here. Only for manual. You will feel it. You could port it for some more power, but be aware that this will lean it out some and you will need to compensate for this. Do a search to find out how. Here are a couple key words for you:
"Resistor Mod"
"MAF Translater"

I know your talking about fbodies but I doubt the MAF is different. I descreened mine no problem.

i have an auto, no screen, and no problem...as long as you don't port it without a tune, you will be fine.

Yes thats fine, but there is a history of F-bodies with trans problems after playing with the MAF. I have not heard anything about trucks on this matter. I don't spend much time looking over truck results so my info is strictly on F-bodies. You are not having problems and that is great. I have a ported and descreened MAF on my M6 car without problems too.

Tranny problems in A4's result from porting the MAF, not descreening it. It's caused by a decrease in line pressure. Descreening will not hurt the tranny. It'll lean out the stock tune a little which will free up some power.

BTW...the "resistor mod" is a joke. Don't waste your time. Same with the MAFT really.

I wouldn't say that it's a joke. It just doesn't work for everyone. It works for me. I would say try at your own risk or it's a roll of the dice unless you know exactly what you are doing. I got lucky I guess, because there seems to be many guys on here with lots of posts saying not to do it. But there are also some who say it can be done with propper tuning. I'm not arguing about it any more. I am just stating what I have experianced and read.

You will have to read through all three pages though...

F-body MAF = leave it the hell alone.

My 97 had a hot start miss the first time thru the powerband after porting my MAF. Any gains seen in the opinions of most are minuscule and mental. In most cases, MAF manipulation leads to problems.

I would say stay away from porting it but the screen isn't to dangerous. It's a costly mistake if you screw up and it's not that much power.

My car hasnt had the screen since a few days after I bought it with not problems. I do have a question though.

Since I have got my headers my car is running rich. I have hp tuners and plan to learn how to use it someday but for now the question is. I was given ported maf ends, will this kinda even out the since im running rich as it is?

Assassin, i don't know if that is normal or not. Maybe it was different for C5s than it was for the F Bodies.

DeScreened and NO PROBLEMS!!! I would do it again. I have the free ram air mod AND BGRA. Hardly anything is going to get past the air filter, so I don't think you need to worry. (Unless you are running w/o the air filter in & then you shouldn't even being asking about this)
