Do some research bud.......they are very capable of 13s BONE STOCK.

Stock I ran 14.2 @ 99.......with one "heavy mod" (Drag radials ), I ran 13.8 @ 99.....with one more "heavy mod"...Stage 1 (ECU and injectors.....half hour install) I ran 13.5 @ 101.....two additional "heavy mods" (intake / exhaust).......13.28 @ 103.......

I now have Stage 2 (ECU, MAP/TIP Sensor, injectors, wastegate, "turbo toys") and I run 12s. "Heavily modded" SRTs are running low 12s and in the 11s.

Stock SRTs have ran 13.7 BONE STOCK....

Heck, Car and Driver ran 13.9 @ 103 in a stock SRT-4 (notice the strong trap speed)........... http://www.caranddriver.com/article....&page_number=1

I average 27 mpg (city/highway combined) with my current set-up and drive about 65 % of the time on the highway. For a daily driver this car is a blast...

If someone will want the car in 10 years..... Well that remains to be seen.
I don't think a neon will last 10 years. All the one's I have worked on drove like junk after 3 or 4 years. A neon is a neon...turbo or not.IMO

Default who are you

I personally drove the neon . Its fun , it pulls and will catch a 2nd . It is a neon!!! You have to decide, are you a ricer or a flag waving good ole boy . Some guys on this site really dont like ricers, so watcha back .Taking 4 people for a ride is about the only time the neon shines .Torque =

I would buy the LS1 over the SRT. It would be RWD and the exhaust note will be way better than the 4 banger. It feels like your piloting a jet since its a mid size car and has tons of power & torque. I know from experience from my cavalier that the neon will feel like you are driving a scooter around and doesn't seem as safe since its smaller . I also get way more looks in the Camaro then the Cavalier and everyone I know would rather have the Camaro then the Cavalier since its an economy car. The SRT would be the same since its just a Neon, even if it ran 10s its still a Neon. The best thing that you can do for yourself is try driving a few of each car and see what you like better so you can decide and don't waste money in the future by trading it in for the other car. Good Luck with whichever car you buy.

Me personally, go for a MINI Cooper S and...you'll get way more looks and can still run with a Hemi...twincharge the S and run in the 12's.
hahahahaha

lol

how is taking away a muffler from the ss make the camaro a V6 camaro???????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????

its still a v8....still a camaro..........lol....lool

Well, the SRT-4 is a new car w/ warranty, good factory backed performance mods, and can run with a stock LS1.
If you get a camaro you are getting someone's old toy that has most definitely been dogged on a lot, prob not a good warranty, and will run with the SRT-4.
I would say that weather should play in on this, also. But, I have had no problems driving my Z in the snow out here, the weight makes it easy to get around.
I would say that if you are into drag racing a good auto f-body is a good choice for ease of getting into 11's. Hell, a buddy of mine got his Z to run 12.0 @ 108 with just torque converter (if I recall it was a 3600 stall), headers, Borla, a lid, and some ET streets.
Outside of that, I think you got a hard choice to make. Both get decent milage, are fast, look good, and are fun to drive. If I could compair them to football players, the SRT-4 is like Torry Holt (#88 WR for the Rams), fast, light, nimble, if not a little finesse. While the Camaro is more like Ray Lewis, a hulking linebacker of a car that will slam your *** back into the seat, while still being able to show some agility, too. Both first round picks, just depends on what your looking for.

i had a V6 Camaro, so your saying if i had kept that and added a ram air hood, different spoiler, stiffer springs, and a lower restriction muffler id have an SS, so SS's are V6's, so my Z28 is better than an SS, AWSOME!!!!

I like dodge a lot, the cummins is bad ***. But the neon can only go so far on mods. And your talking cheap mods, headers and true duals will give you more power for 900bucks than a neon will ever have, and to the wheels at that, not the crank. Its funny you compare a 4 banger to a v-8. And that race you had, driver plays huge roles when you have power like the LS1.

Of course you do not need as much power to propel you when you weigh 2900 lbs compared to 3600 lbs. Plus everyone EXPECTS a LS1 to be fast
