Just don't do it again.

It's there to keep you from ******* something up, everyone tags is sooner or later. Just shift sooner/quicker.

I hit my rev limiter all the time, mostly only in first gear since the damn tach is about 600RPM behind.

Its there to protect your engine from over revving. You will not damage your engine hitting the stock rev limit (6200 RPM I believe)

In my experience so far the tach does lag a bit I shift around 5800 and that seems to give me the best pull. My best advice... avoid the rev limiter like the plague...

The rev limiter is there to protect the engine. I've hit it plenty of times. Just don't make a habit of it. My car runs fine. If you have a manual, don't miss a shift or worse, don't do a 6th to 2nd or something. That's gonna hurt alittle. The engine will mechanically be forced to over rev causing at the very least some bent pushrods. But even that is not a big deal since there easy to replace.

Our limiter works by cutting off the injectors. A carburated car with a limiter is cut by the spark.

Good info, I wasnt quite sure how it worked in noncarbed cars.

i hit mine ALL the time, having a rev happy cam makes it worse...
comp said my cam should spin to 6600 to make full power but id rather keep it at 6200 and just hit the limiter all the time.!

most cars limiters are set 600-1000 rpm below there real red line as insurance,
and for longevity.... it going to 6200 would really hurt the car, they would set the limiter at 6000.... see....
ive seen stock bottom ends spun to 7250rpm and even 7800rpm...!!!!

as an example the new V10 for the 05 M5 was tested to over 10,000rpm!
but the limiter was set at 8,250 for longevity...
