Question Mobil 1

What weight do you guys run, 5w30 or 10w30? Owners manual says 5w30. But I see some of you run the 10w30. Whats the advantage of 10w30? I live in Wisconsin gets cold but will drive in spring and summer only. Also I am going to put in 160 SLP thermostat. What do you guys think?

I would look for German Castrol Synthetic 0w30. Autozone carries it but you have to look on the back of the bottle and look for, "Made In Germany". This oil is great at start-up and at operating temp.

You live in Wisconsin and are getting a 160* stat? Why? Don't care to have heat in your car on short drives in the winter when it's 10* out? Summer up there only lasts a couple of months anyway - I wouldn't go any lower than a 180*, but that's just me.

German Castrol 0w30 is not being discontinued. It's just that only bigger Autozones will be carrying it now. But it's still in production.

As far as the best choice in viscosity for M1, I'd go with either their 0w40, or their new 10w40 Extended Performance. Their 5w40 Truck & SUV is very good too.

I use Mobil 1 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer. I use the K&N oil filter I get from Autozone. I think the part # is HP2006, the tall one. I don't ever seem to get any metal pieces on my drainplug, but then again I have only put 800 miles on my 02 since July and I change the oil every 6 months.

I have been using Mobil1 0w40 for over a year now with excellent results.
No reason to change to anything else.
(Thanks Patman)!

I use mobil one 0w 40, and to quote tony the tiger, its grrrrrreeeaaatttt!!!!

Its upped my oil pressure, and helps my engine run much smoother. I also hear much less valve train noise than I use to when I had first bought my car and it had 10w-30 in it. No clicking at all anymore!!!!!! Id reccomend it to anyone!! I als have much less oil consumption than I used to!
