Default Attn. LS1 Owners, Beware Autozone!!

Autozone has our spark plugs listed incorrectly in their system, under part # 41-932 <instead of part # 41-985>. The 41-932 is for Vortec motors and made mine ping like a SOB!

That is good to know, changing heads soon. You really need to check when getting stuff there. Advanced isn't better.

They all mess up way to much for me to trust them w/ that. That's why I'm glad theres other just as close, like some of our sponsors. I'll go to autozone and tell them what I want, if its not it, i tell them look again, otherwise i make sure they order exactly what I Want.

However, a NGK TR-55 is always a NGK TR-55.

yep, a #3951 part number on the NGK TR-55's. I don't see any other spark plug that has consistently performed as well!

Good find on the screw up by the "tech's" at autozone......Way to stay on your toes!

I asked for part # 41-952...they said it was discontinued <which they were right> and that the replacement was 41-932 <WRONG!>....I found this out the hard way by installing them and wondering why in the hell my car pinged like crazy!! They should have given me 41-985's.....the 41-932's are for late 90's Vortec truck motors.....the LS1 doesn't like them very much!!

I wish some sponsors lived close to me. The closest ones that I know of are about a 6 hour drive away.

Maybe next plug change......been fighting a pinging problem and I've been replacing parts aimlessly <Plugs, wires, PCV valve, O2 sensors, all vaccuum hoses, fuel filter, etc...> and I wanted to stay w/all stock replacement parts until I sorted out the problem <however, the plugs were the culprit--I thought they were the right ones but weren't>. Guess I'm back to square one + a seriously excessive tune up!

I don't know about your Autozone, but mine has the 41-985's listed. Its also listed on the autozone website as the plug recommended for $7.99 a piece.

I work at AutoZone and I wouldn't buy my plugs there, I use NGKs in my Silverado and have never had a ping even with a hot 93 Nelson tune while running 92 octane gas. Some of the people they hire don't really know much about anything but some know their stuff, just depends on who you talk to. I would say to go with the NGKs, I have had people with LS1s that got the 41-985 plugs and brought them back a few weeks later in horrible condition saying they were the wrong ones.

I don't know aboutyou guys but I won't go to auto zone for anything at all. Every time I go therethe customer service resembles something from the local construction shithouse.

I sat in line for 25 minutes (no kidding) waiting for the counterguys to finish up bullshitting with each other. The only reason that I wasthere in the first place is because I couldn't find that particular puller anywhere else. I finally threw he part down on the floor and left them with some not-so-kind parting words....I have never been back. Every store down here is like this.

So I would suggest getting your plugs at a parts store that actually treats their customers right...then you wont have to worry about part#s

I dealt with three people at that Autozone....two clerks and the Manager, all three swore up and down that they were the correct spark plug for a 2000 LS1 Trans Am!!
