If I remember right, the stock speed limiter is at 163 mph. So in a totally stock 2001 or 2002 car that came with speed rated tires (SS or Firehawk) you can go that fast. If you have one of those cars with the speed limiter edited out of the PCM, you can likely do about 173 mph, if near sea level and in 5th gear. 6th gear would probably get you about 135 mph; just guessing on that. I've went 125 mph in 6th gear, and 161 mph in 5th, but neither were at full throttle. There have been reports of stock, late 4th gens hitting the low 170's though.

In my '95 T/A I pegged the speedo on US131 near Grand Rapids. Not sure exactly how fast it was, but the speedo went to 160, and it was pegged. I wouldn't say it was over 165mph or so....but damn that was an adrenaline rush!!!

I can't wait to do something like that again. This time with an LS1!

I have gone an indicated 189mph on my R1,...other R1's I couldn't get it tto go past 185mph indicated. My 2000 C5, at the time stock, went 170mph on several ocassions with about 500rpm to go in 5th but, started to come into a turn or into traffic....haven't had the chance to do it again with my mods,...but I do hit 150's daily.

Speedo calibrated? I'm sure you know that at that speed the speedo is usually at least 15mph high.

I would guess that's pretty close, assuming it developed that power at the elevation you made the run, and you were on nice smooth pavement with 50 psi in the tires. Dyno graphs are usually corrected to sea level, so you don't get that much power at higher locations.

At the Bonneville Salt Flats where the land speed records are set, the elevation is 4300 ft and the texture of the Salt eats up 15 mph or so. So it's harder to go fast there than you might think.

Fastest I've been was 157, and that was with the windows down and t-tops off in my 2.73 A4.

And I know it was 157, because I got pulled over 7 miles later by ~5 cars and went to jail
