Lightbulb Just got a car. SES came on. Got a question!

I was driving today and for no reason SES came on. I didn't do anything special, just regular city driving.

What could it be caused by? Could it be something serious?

I'm going to Adv.Auto Parts to check it out tomorrow.

Also, I wanted to know what temp do these cars work at? Mine shows 210 all the time. Is that normal or too high?

thanks

OP

For the 99+ that is normal temp on the gauge.
The SES light could be something very serious, or it could be nothing important. Need to know what the code is.....

Will find out tomorrow.

Thanks for the input on temp.

Car is running strong, no extra noises, no pings, so I hope it's just something little.

What kind of car do you drive? I see in your sig. " Looking for a ls1 z28, ss, or TA in North East area with MT only around $10,000. " But, didn't know if that's what you drive..

If I can get my hands on the car I want within the next two weeks, I'll definately be up at Glen Burnie sometime soon too. My best friend has a black Mustang GT and lives in Arnold, not far at all.

Wierd about the SES light though.

My guess would be an 02 sensor, sometimes those lights come and go, it obviously isn't anything serious if it goes on and comes back off. Also my throttle position sensor (ses light) went on and off.

So, I went and got it scanned today and it's both front sensors running lean. I blame it on my grandma style driving, I shift under 2k rpms, and probably bad fuel filter.

Once I step on the gas light goes off... weird ****.

I'm gonna change the filter tomorrow, see if it fixed the problem.
