I have changed plugs, wires, belts, air filter so far. I guess I am on the 5 month plan to do a tune up.
My car is stock with the exception of a lid, its also an A4. I thought these cars where supposed to get better gas mileage than I am getting. HELP!

I am getting the same... i guess the only way to improve that number is to never go past half throttle... i was thinkin the same thing about decent gas miliage. some guys on here are going 300+ on one tank.. i have no idea how they do it.

I always wondered how they did it too while I was getting 200-240 per tank...
but then I had to follow my parents on the freeway for about 130 miles once and then even with the rest city driving I still got 314 to the tank.
You can pretty much drive just fine never going over 2000 if you want to save gas.

With cam and bolt on's & 4.10's I get 190-200 ALL in town, On a trip,to B'ham from the ATL I got 300 out of a tank, 80mph minimum. ITS all about throttle control...unfortunatly I have NONE. LOL

I normally get 180-200 miles (mashin most the time) on day to day driving on beltway and inner-city driving. I have gotten 110 miles from a 1/4 tank while cruising from OC to DC in 6th gera at bout 75-80mph

Thats coming soon. Maybe this weekend. This may be stupid logic, but if the filter was clogged it would be more restrictive? I am changing it regaurdless, just havnt got around to it yet. Well guys I guess a lot of you get the same mileage, or close anyways. I do mainly "city" driving in the sense its a lot of stop and go. I got a 3 hour trip planned for friday, I guess I will see what she can get on the highway.

IF the fuel filter is plugged up, it most certainly can be restrictive!!!!! I have pulled some fuel filters off that cannot be blown thru period. New fuel filters can be blown thru by mouth with little to no restriction. Just think of the stress being put on the fuel pump by a clogged filter!!!

I normally get between 220-250 all in town driving. All highway is 280-300. Best case scenario that is 21mpg on the highway, I have no idea how people get like 27mph on the highway. My only guess would be to just putz along at 65mph in 6th gear??? I don't ever intend on testing that theory though

Remember the 98's have a slightly smaller tank than the 99+. So you can't really judge by how many miles everyone is getting per tank.

I have an M6, the best I have had was city 18 and highway was 26. Everytime, I tell myself, alright throttle control this week to see what kinda of mileage I can get.....never works!!!
