Corvette and LS1 Virgin... need help
I just got my first ls1 car today! A '99 Corvette with a M6. I am looking to make this thing not stock for much longer. What mods should I make in what order. Any tips, advice, or help I would really appreciate. Thanks guys!

I put a Donaldson Blackwing Cold Air Induction on my 2001 Vette (6 speed Vert) and the power INCREASE was SOTP noticeable. I will say at least 15rwhp.
I also did the AA exhaust mod on the 01 (I don't recommend it), but you must do something to make it sound better. Vettes sound LAME without exhaust. I've had a 92, 93, 96, 00, 01, etc.... and it always bothered me.
Get a decent catback that is LOUD and DEEP, it is a performance car.
I had Borla (Mufflers only) on my 96 and loved it.

I would start with an air cleaner they help alot. I went with the Halltech Stinger since it includes a smooth coupler and the bigger air bridge. After that I did a Catback and recently did headers.

thanks I appreciate it. I'm thinking I want to keep this thing as streetable as possible. And although I'm not worried about spending money on it, I want to make smart investments. I guess I should have started with my goals. I want to push 400 to the wheels. I'm thinking that should be enough to mess with the '03 cobras that have a few mods. I'm thinking my next steps are going to be:
ls6 intake
f13 cam
ls6 heads
short tube headers, x-pipe and magnaflows

My old 03 Cobra is fairly representative of what is out on the streets with an average driver behind the wheel.
It had a Steeda cold air induction, Magnaflow catback, 2.8 pulley, and a predator tune. ($1100 total mods). It made 445rwhp/452rwtq SAE.
It ran 12.22@116+ on DRs and 12.29@116+ on stock rubber. This is driven conservatively (easy launch, granny shifting).
The scary thing is, with just the catback, cai, and predator tune (before the pulley) it ran a 12.36@115.4 (my buddy powershifting) and a 12.48@114.89 with me grannyshifting.
That gives you a good idea of what you will run in to out there and what you need to beat.

i would change the last 2 things on your list to
long tubes(short tubes will not gain you much if anything over stockers)
and if your plans are to keep stock displacement then AFR 205 cc heads...
those with the f13 cam will show you 430-450rwhp and bash most any cobra that looks your way
and FYI.... i would definatly at the least add a clutch to your list... that stocker wont hold much hp... have fun crushing those cobras

For a little less money Cartek and ECS build some nice 447 strokers from 525 to 600 RWHP.
Jaberwaki’s setup sounds good too.
Further down the horsepower ladder, I have the AFR 205’s a little 224/228 cam, TPIS headers, and LS6 intake and I put down 444RWHP through the cats with 410 gears. This is the budget plan and is enough to take care of most stock blower Cobra’s.
Of course what ever setup you go with you will need a good air intake, a good clutch, gears, and hardened output shaft(s). As Jaberwaki pointed out shorty headers are useless on the Vette.

man, this is bennificial. Like I said, I'm planning on hookin' this up. I don't just want to send it somewhere, and take it back fast. I'd like to hook it up with some good streetable mods. I don't need to go excessive. Just enough to be faster than most things on the street. I'd like to run high 11's low 12's, I don't really want to lower the gears, I did that on my mustang gt, and I like the feel of the long gears better, even though it's not as quick, I like that long gear pull, I'm thinking with 400 to the wheels, it shouldn't be too much of an issue with stock rear gears. Plus, I like my 28mpg!!!

One thing I can’t stress enough is to go with the 410 gears! I have never heard of anyone who has used these on a H/C C5 and regretted it. It will not be like your Mustang. The transmission in the C5 has fairly tall (low numerical) gearing and most of the H/C motors spin to 6700-7000 rpms. I have 410's and shift at 6700 and I get 48 mph in 1st gear 72 in 2nd 98 in 3rd and 127 in 4th. You will still get a nice long pull. And in 6th gear 70 mph is about 1800 rpms. You can’t beat it!
Yes you can keep your cats with the long tubes. You will have to ditch the two little “pup” cats that are directly after the stock manifolds, but you can keep the main cats or get some aftermarket cats. There are several options. The later model C5’s don’t have the “pup” cats anyway, so it’s no big deal.

TSP 220/220 579/579 114 lsa cam (at 900 rpm idle they will never even know its there)
AFR 205 heads milled for 11/1 CR
.040 cometic head gaskets
mac midlength headers with hiflo cats, into an x-pipe true duel...
any sponcers chromoly pushrods
dyno tune(i'll let ya know a local guy in pm if you want)

that should put you at about 415-420 rwhp
besides alittle louder exhast it will sound basically stock. and on a nice mickey T drag radial should run mid to high 11's all day long and keep 23-24 mpg highway...
