Default Want to start modding my Vette Where should I start?

I want to start putting some mods on my vette. My goal long term goal is to clock 130 mph in the 1/4 mile. Where should I start with my modifications? I have a 1997 Corvette 6spd with a vararam intake and a B&B PRT triflow exhaust(It had these mods when I bought it). Should I start with headers? LS6 Intake? The only thing is I do not want to use nitrous oxide.

I would say a shifter, but by your sig looks like thats already taken care of. With the car being a 97 I say upgrade the clutch, I would hate to see you add some power an not be able to enjoy it because of a slipping clutch.

If you are wanting to trap 130mph in the 1/4 i'd be looking at forced induction. However I'd get an exhaust, headers (unless you plan to turbo) ported throttle body, ls6 intake, and then I'd start looking at some suspension stuff. I'd save the big stuff until you KNOW what you want to do.

if you want 130 in the q/m..your gonna need fi since you don't want n20. do you want twin turbos, single turbo, supercharger. you'l also probably need to rebuild the engine with forged parts to ahndle a high boost level.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am thinking about a procharger, but I will start off with some LG motorsport headers with no cats tho.

Sell the Vette and buy a Viper. Take it to Hennesey and have them add a twin turbo...this setup will generate 1,000HP and 1100 tork...

It should get you down the 1/4 mile fast.

130 in the 1/4 is gonna take quite a bit of power. I'm just guessing here but 450+ rwhp w/traction. You'll need either FI or a STOUT heads/cam combo with fully ported afr's and a wicked cam. Will take quite a bit of $$$ either way u go

LG headers are a good choice, get 1 7/8 primaries.

if you want to spend over $150,000 for 1,000hp and a crappy sound.

Smart idea getting the long tubes and no cats. I'd suggest you get a nice F-9 cam from futral motorsports. Also once you are real close to getting the supercharger, because it will lower your compression, I would get a good set of ported 6.0L heads. The lower compression will generate less hp when you don't have the procharger hooked up so it all depends on what you can live with in the mean time. You will need a better fueling system as well, so keep that in mind. As always a good tune is great to have.

Then I'd get Kooks.

Both are a great headers, and when wanting to make big power, or go blown, good exhaust for sure helps.

Where should you start?

Start modding things that you won't end up changing when you get your 800hp.

Like suspension mods.

I was saying that you can have a 50,000 vette and have 35,000 left over to buy mods. You can buy A LOT for 35,000. Add on another 100,000 or whatever it makes to twin turbo the viper from hennessey and you would have one bad vette. With that much money I'd expect you could make WELL over 1,000hp. That's all I was trying to get at. I love the vipers, I just hate how they are so expensive, and how they don't sound good when you put exhaust on them. From my experience at least.

trade in your 97 for a 05 that should get you closer. The Stock C6 has 400hp and 400tq and suspension. Then vortech and you got your 130
