Default Buying a late model Z28?

Here's the deal:

I am looking into getting a LS1 Z28/SS. Now the problem I am having is that I can't find a 2001/2002 M6. Thats what I really have my heart set on b/c of the LS6 intake manifold. Well here's what I was wondering.
Is it worth the hassle trying to find a 01/02 as opposed to a 99-01 and just buying a new manifold? My plans are LS6 style 59cc heads with 2.02"/1.57" valves. 232/230 .580"/.580" 110 LSA cam. And of course lid, LT/ORY, and cutout. (Oh just thought about this, chances are a 12 bolt rear (4.10) before the heasds)

But yeah, should i stress finding a LS1 with the LS6 manifold or just save the money and buy a new manifold?

by the car u want...and there are a couple other benifeits of getting a newer one..but like ull here a ls1 is a ls1... u can find an ls6 intake for like 300 so not buying a care cause of that would seem silly to me..so ya if u find a good deal get it and asave 300 for the intake

I'd say buy the car you want. Just like anthony said though if the only reason is the intake and you can find a good deal pick one up and use the cash you save to start modding...part of which would be the LS6 intake. I didn't even know the difference when I bought mine so finding out I had a LS6 intake was a bonus. LOL

It really depends on the money you have to spend, and how picky you are. I see no reason to spend extra money on a 01 or 02, if a 99 is in great shape for a great price. For 300 you can get the ls6 intake, or for a bit more, fast intake.

I personally wouldnt buy a car because of the intake, only because its coming off whatever year it is. (im a fan of the fast intakes, sorry ) I wouldnt look at a car and say, well its a great car, but oh its a 2000 so I wont get it.

Good Luck.

well if its only the manifold youre looking for. just make you sure pay 500 dollars less than you would for an 01 or 02 and spend that money on an LS6 manifold...

were there any other minor differences between the 98-00 and 01/02? I remember seeing different LTs for the different years if i'm not mistaken. Were there other mods that are specific to the 98-00 and 01/02?

Found the FAQ, dont know why it took me forever to find it. So anything not listed there would be of great help.

If getting an M6--aren't the 01-02 the only ones with the stronger shift forks that don't eventually bend like the 98-00? That seems like a pretty good reason to look out for 01+ also.

The 01-02 also have better clutch hydraulics if I remember right.
