My last tank went to 260 miles, and I put in 14.2 gallons at the next fill up.

That was mostly highway with only me and 120 pounds of sand in the car.

I have a 99Z28, auto, 91K. im 23 and i enjoy driving this car.. and my drivers record shows it. I once got a ticket for speeding and my window tint (only in california), then after the ticket was taken care of, as i was leaving a roosted dust and rocks all over the CHP while i was spinning my wheels in the dirt trying to merge back into traffic and keep it straight, and he came and gave me another ticket. ANYWAY, i use to get 28-320 miles to a tank, then i switched to the 5w-30 fully syntheitc and i use octaine booster every tank. now i get 415-465 miles to a tank!! its great!!

Has anyone told this person that when the gas gage reads 1/2 it actually only has a 1/4 of a tank?

Is that really true? I mean i always thougt the last half of the tank went fast but...

Anyway, i do almost all city driving. My town has turned into all stop and go traffic almost all the time. It sucks. I get between 190-200 miles out of a tank. And at $2.69 a gallon, thats no picnic.

You 20mpg & up guys suck....I can watch my gas gauge move ........of course most of the miles the car sees are "spirited" . I haven't seen 200 miles out of a tank in a long time.

Maybe in your car but not in either of mine. The gas gauges in both are slightly different in where they read, but they're not that far off. In the WS6, it takes 12 gallons to fill up when the needle is just before the 1/4 tank mark. In the Firehawk, it takes 12 gallons when it's just under the 1/4 tank mark.

But back to the original topic of the thread...really good gas milage there. The best we've seen was in the Firehawk going from Maryland to Ohio. 6th gear with 3.23's...90 mph..we were cruising!

I just made a trip from south dakota to north carolina. I got anywhere from 29-32mpg. I think the worst I saw was 28. Thats loaded down pretty good with a computer, luggage and all kinds of stuff, and going through the mountains, so I was very impressed. You cant go wrong with a 325hp v8 that can still get 30mpg on the highway.

longtubes, ftra, lid, exhaust...they all increase fuel economy a lot. i bet you'll net 10%-15% better fuel economy if you keep your foot out of it. it's cams and gearswaps that kill your mileage. i have a formula with 2.73's. it already has exhaust and a lid, i think i may just throw longtubes in it and ram air, port the TB and call it a day. a 13 second car that gets decent mileage. not bad at all.

damn i may switch to 5w-30 and octane booster. that ****'s unreal, it's like a civic!
