Default 50k miles high on 02 ss?

well another stupid but curious question! to begin i love to research things before i buy them and get input from people that actually own the cars im lookin in to buying. to begin my buddy that runs a dealership found me an 02 sebring silver SS - automatic - 50k miles. I'd like some input from people on if its worth it buying a 50k mile ls1? personally i see 50k miles as being alot (thats in my point of view) but the car is a beauty and it looks like shes been treated well. anyways he wants around 17-18k do you think its worth it ? and i know ls1's last a good while if you take care of them. im just kind of nervous if im gonna start throwing some mods on it that the car is somewhat older and might take more abuse.
any input is greatly appreciated!

50k is no problem, but you can do better for 18k. I saw a NBM 02 SS w/9k on it in the for sale section of this board (or LS2) for that price. What is KBB on that car?

Even though its a 99 It has only 46000 miles on it. It was made in April of 99. I did pay 13200 for it though.

yeah location seems to be a big factor on ls1's .... around here a 98-99 goes for 12-15000 and and 01-02 around 20-25

i'd have to almost completely disagree, i've seen a lot of dirt cheap and several guys having trouble selling their cars at reasonable prices

I agree with you. Midwest had some nice cars at decent prices when I was car shopping last month. There was one white 01 (don't remember if Z28 or TA) with 32k on it for ~ 11k in the Chicago area. Also saw a lot of good cars in the northeast. I ended up getting my 98Z from Iowa. Had to fly out and drive it back and it was still a much better deal than anything I could find way out here at the tip of west TX.

yeah if you can hold out you can find a better deal than that. my brother had to sell his car quick so he ended up selling his 02 camaro ss with 49K for 14500, american racing rims, new tires, 2500 stall, upgraded exhaust and all that. he got took on the deal, but had to sell fast.

thats why i went to the midwest to get my SS... i was looking at two the exact same color bodystuyle everything, 7K difference on price and the cars had withing 600 miles of eachother

18 does seem a little high for 50K miles... but its your overall choice, there is enough evidence to suggest that car should run strong and keep pulling for a long time after you buy it

the thing is why im pushing more towards this car is that where im buying it from is the dealer ship is where my family has bought over 4 cars in the past 7 years or so and we have good rapport with the general manager... if anything goes wrong with the car he comes to our house picks the car up and leaves a loaner.. hes a hell of a guy but a dealer also.. all the dealers are in the business for is money... so im still gonna look around

just raise your search radius. i drove 120 miles for my car but it was worth it.

24,900 miles for $14,600, plus they gave me an extra $1,100 more than my car was worth as a trade. all in all i paid $10,650 after fees and tags. i still gotta pay my tax though since i drove to a different state....

the point is, my car was valued at $15,950 on KBB, and that's WITHOUT the Z06 rims and the SLP intake/exhaust package and brand spanking new tires. it was easily worth $18,000 with the performance package, wheels and tires. it has every option except leather (which i didn't really want anyway).

keep looking man. i know 100+ miles seems long for a trip but when you save thousands it's worth it.

i went ahead and took the 02 ss for a ride.. i pulled up .. bs'ed with the dealer then went to start it up and mad piston slap.. took it for a ride to heat it up but couldnt really take it to wot.. still was slapping up the ***.. pretty loud too.. the dealer offered me 17.8 and a 1 year bumper to bumper.. i told him ill think about it.. but i found a 99 ta w/ 42k miles for 11k and a 2 year warranty.. only thing is w/ the TA is that it was a fleet vehicle which kind of worried me.

I know I have an LT1 but I bought my 1997 in 2000 with 54k miles, and it hasn't had any problems, so I believe the LS1 would run just as well
