For all that dont know i'm new to this site and to the LS1 community and have a very newbish ? what gas do i use? Can you use the cheap stuff, or do you have to use premium, or can the mid-grade stuff work well? I have no idea and i dont want to put shitty fuel in my car and wreck stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

you have to use at least 91 octane. here's the thing about octane: it's not a performance booster but if there isn't enough, it destroys performance.
your PCM is tuned so if you use less than 91 octane, it reduces timing in order to stop detonation (explosions inside your motor due to too low of an octane). octane SLOWS DOWN combustion. since the LS1 is a high compression motor, it combusts faster. it blows up inside on less than 91 octane because the compression is so high...unless the PCM retards the timing, resulting in a big loss in power.
you need 91 octane to keep this from happening. so what happens if you go 93? will you see better mpg and more horsepower? no. octane is NOT a power adder, it's a detonation supressor. there is no point in buying above 91 octane unless you need it (unless it knocks with 91 octane). anything above 91 octane is a waste of money. that being said, if there's no 91 octane in your area, 93 is dandy too.

that's fine. FWIW, i'd try to find gas that uses no ethanol. test each gas station locally. see what brand it runs on best. all gas is supposed to be relatively the same but other people have better luck on one brand more than others, don't know why.

When you do find your LS-1 car, It should have a sticker on the back of the fuel door that says 'premium unleaded fuel' or something similar...
If you do not see the sticker, ask the owner where it went...

Sometimes when people get in accidents, The body shops do not always replace the stickers and NOT seeing that sticker there could indicate that the car was previously damaged and then repaired (less the OEM sticker).
You got to watch out when buying a used car.
Hope I helped some friend...

You should run 91+ in it. However, most automobiles nowadays will be able to run on 87 in a crunch (or even indefinitely, although at less efficiency). I read somewhere that high performance cars are usually more economical to drive using high octane fuel (91 or 93, depending on the area) than to use 87, because of the loss in power and thus gas mileage. I don't know how accurate is, and I have a feeling it also depends on driving styles, but if you can, always put the recommended octane in the car.

nothing touches my tank except for v power and if i run out then ill go get a gas can and have someone drive me to shell to get a gallon of more v power!!!!
