If I were you I would either save my money for a 5th Gen Camaro... or put some of the money you would spend on a new car into your current one. If you drop even 10 grand into your SS u could have an extremly mean car that will **** on 9 out of 10 cars on the street's anywhere. Think about it, why drop 20K for a Cobra when u could buy a lower mileage SS for 10-14 depending, stick another 10-12 in it and have a 700HP LS1? In your case you already have the car and the mod money, so why exactly are u buying another vehicle? Personally that's why I would never buy a Cobra, sure they are cool cars and all but I paid $8750 for my Z with 60,000 miles on it. If I had 10-12k to put into it I could not only get heads/cam but also a Procharger or twin turbo and have money left for appearance and a nice system and roll around with a 10-11 sec LS1.

10-12K into a stock '03 Cobra = 9.50's @ 145mph with great street
manners if you do it right. Just throwing that out there.

I am confused....If you didn't already have the pewter...then I can understand this poll. But you have an SS already. If you wanted a vette, you would have listed one as an option (that was more for those that say 'get a vette'). So, presonally, I dont' see why this is 4 pages long, and has so many votes.

You have an SS, and you want a blk SS or cobra............So....that is why I voted for the Snake.

Thats all fine and good, but he was saying how he only paid $8800 for his LS1. Well you take that 9K and add 12K worth of mods and have a nice 10 sec car for 21-23K

You have to spend 25K or better for a 03/04...and you get a 12 second car. I'm not trying to say that, the LS1 is better b/c it's cheaper, I'm just pointing out what the other guy meant...

Keep your SS...Pewter SS's are sex. Black SS's are hot, but they do show all imperfections. I detail cars everyday, all the black cars that I clean tend to have bad paint. It's hard finding a black SS that's going to have the paint that you want. As far as choosing which one...all your preference. I'm not a mustang guy, but the '03/'04 cobras are nice as ****. Not just for performance wise, but by looks too. I personally would rather have the SS though... It all depends on money too, if thats not an issue, just buy a Z06.

That's ok Magnet, some people just can't live with other people having different opinions than their own , not your fault!

You already have a LS1 why do you need another? If you like black so much paint it black. I say get the Cobra.

get a cobra, bolt-ons + a 2.4 KB on 15+ lbs of boost and you have 650 hp. Add some cams and get close to 700 on stock bottom end. Can't beat it. You can build an ls1 to 650 hp, but not on stock block/bottom end like you can with a cobra.

That's absolutely false. You mean 23-24psi with a 2.4KB, which is
pretty much obsolete now that the 2.6L and 2.8L blowers are out.

Cams are about the worst mod you can do on a Cobra. They are costly
and they yield very little power. There are very few guys running
KB's that make 700rwhp without nitrous...even with built motors.

You'd be hard pressed to go from stock to twin turbo with only 10-12k. You definately wouldn't have any money left for appearance and a stereo.

Hmmm

Well I would go with a Cobra for one reason... The Hellion Turbo kit....

847 Hp at the WHEELS with only fuel upgrades through the stock manifolds.

FTW

Do you honestly believe those are the only mods required when installing
a Hellion turbo kit?

Shoot me a PM when the stock 10 spline input shaft twists like
a pretzel. The clutch will be toast in no time. The halfshafts will
snap. The IRS rear diff will most likely grenade. How long do you
think the pistons will last at that power level?

It's not as easy as you think.

honestly it depends how much money you want to spend and how fast you want to go. If you want a nice 11 sec daily driver then id say go cobra.....if you are gonna go all out and make a 9 sec car then i would go for the ss. Youve got the cubes with the ss and you can always get a forged shortblock and add some FI.

That's funny, because I know a guy around where I live who has an 03 with Headers, X-Pipe, Cat-back, Accufab TB, cams, and a couple other bolt-ons with a 2.4 KB with upper and lower pullies on 21 psi and made 690 hp. And I also know another person with close to the same setup that made 710 on 21 psi.

You are gay... of course the pistons who last that long, but someone on SVTPerformace just made 1001 hp on stock bottom end with the Hellion Turbo kit.
