It all depends on where you live, the number of competing insurance companies that are available and mostly your driving record.
I live in north western Alberta (that's in canada ) and with a totally clean driving record, being 28 year old, living common law with my g/f, insurring my house and all other vehicals under the same company... ect..ect... I'm paying 180/month for my '01 T/A with this new insurance company.
To insure an 04 Grand Prix I was paying 75/month with this company before buying the T/A.
Perviously my insurnace with the old company was 105 bucks/month.
Just to give you an idea on how two companies can vary with the same vehical as well as all the other factors remaining the same...
And you'll find US insurance companies are vastly different from the Canadian ones. As well as dealing with companies in different states/provinces...
Just call up your insurance company and say that you'll like a range in prices on a T/A or SS from 1999-2002 or whatever your prefferences.
Just make sure its a V8 and get collision incase some *** plows into you and takes off!
Now ask me how I know..

well back in 99-01, i was 17-19, had a perfect record and paid $660 every 6 months for JUST LIABILITY on a '88 v6 Camaro. When I tried to insure my '89 Trans Am at 19, they laughed at me, and it was $770 every 6 for just liability and i think collision.
My GTO, now w/ **** record and full coverage is $710 every 6. It was actually cheaper than my '98 grand prix

I hate to say it but your insurance is going to be killer
at that age I paid $258/mo for a brand new 4.8L Single cab 2wd Sierra fully loaded...and I was under my Mom's insurance...you should do the same.
Also, PM me and I can tell you how to get your insurance cut in half.

Dude I was in the same situation a few years back i was going to buy an 02 Z28 but the guy at the dealer looked at me like i was crazy if i was going to get the car myself. It would have been $1000 a month for full coverage on the car considering my situation, so i had to wait till I got a little older now i got an 02 TA and pay $140 a month for full coverage

I pay 16X per month for full coverage and VERY HIGH 50/100/300 or something limits on my 01 ws6. I am 21. I payed 120 for the same thing on my 95 TA when I was 18. This is under my Dad's insurance. Both of us has IMMACULATE (i.e. not even a parking-ticket) records. We also know the manager at the ins. company on a first name/sight basis.
$500 on the old 95
$1000 on the WS6
(deductable)

When I was 16-18 years old, I paid about $600 every 6 months for liability only on my 1993 Camaro Z28.
It went down some between 18-20 years old - not much.
Last year, I sold my 93 Z28 and bought a 1998 Camaro SS.
My insurance company wanted $1550 every 6 months for a 500/500 on the SS.
I switched to Geico and am paying $700 every 6 months for 500/500 full coverage.
Meanwhile, I still have my daily beater insured with my original insurance company. There rates are really high (I've always been on my parents policy).
Well, my parents found cheaper insurance elsewhere and my original insurance company informed me they will no longer insure me because they will NOT insure ANY driver under the age of 25 unless there on their parents policy. (Even though I have a perfect record - no tickets / no accidents)
On the Geo I payed $300 every 6 months for liability only.
I got a quote thru Geico (new insurance company) and I was expecting to pay about the same ($300 /6 mths). So that would be a total of $1000 every 6 for full coverage SS and liability Geo.
Now the kicker - not only was Geico cheaper. They gave me a multicar discount for insuring the Geo there along with the SS.
I'm now paying $500 every 6 months for 500/500 SS & Liability Geo.
So in other words, your going to pay at your age. But, if you take the time to shop around you can find good insurance for cheap.
PS: I'm 22 years old now (0 tickets & 0 accidents)
