The perfect oil.

Well my problem was solved. When getting oil for my wifes winter beater (Talon) I saw they had the GC 0-30. So I got that, drained the thicker Amsoil out of my car and added it to the Talon and then put the GC in my car.

Well I just picked up the GC 0w30, hopefully it is as good as everyone says, it was 43 bucks with a AC Delco filter. I was using Castrol Syn 5w30 and Fram that ran me about 32 bucks.

I've never heard anyone even mention Schaeffer's oil....? I run their 5w-40 in my turbo diesel with excellent results. Full synthetic with an excellent additive package at a really good price. Made by a little oil company in St. Louis. One of the oldest oil companies in this country. I bet with the extra moly in this fine oil, you guys would be surprised how well it'd work in an LSX. JMHO, I have nothing to do with this company, just a satisfied customer.
Also, why no mention of Torco MPZ FR as an additive. Very good stuff also. BITOG has results for both of these products.

IF I weren't using Red Line (with it's already very high moly content), I would definitely use the Torco (or Specialty Formulations) additive.

What would be a good year round oil? Here in nebraska it gets as low as -20* in the winter and as hot as 105* in the summer. I only drive the formula in the summer so I always use m1 0w40. What should I use for my truck year round?

I can't remember what it was called even though I just put in another case last week. It was a 50 weight racing break-in oil. I want to say it was called something like The Green oil.
For synthetic they recommened a brand I don't care for. I guess everyone has their preferences.

My car is a former state police highway pursuit car and has had Pennzoil 5W-30 run in it since it was brand new up until 120,000 miles. Then when I bought it I switched to Valvoline 5W-30. It now has 140,000 miles on it or so and it is absolutely fine. I live in Indiana so I have experienced negative to 100 degree temperatures with no problems as well. Oh, and I run a "crappy" FRAM oil filter too. Hmmm imagine all the money I have saved by not wasting my money on synthetic oil and "good" filters. Oil is oil until you have like an 800hp car or something ridiculous.

Well I was right about "The Green Oil" but I was wrong about the weight. It is a 30 weight break in oil, not a 50.
In a couple days I'm going to put German Castrol 0w30 in and let her eat.

Well **** it then. I'm staying with 10w30 Valvoline Synpower. My stock motor never burned ANY of that oil. Everytime this topic comes up you get 50 bigillion different opinions. I'm staying with what worked for me. Although I did crack a piston at 20,000 miles on the engine but I think that had more to do with hitting the rev limiter a few dozen times at 7,000 RPM.

i use GC. NO leaks, NO burning, doesnt use a drop, even after about 10 autoxs. it also quieted down the infamous LS1 tick. dont let others bullshit you. lots of LS1s burn oil, no matter what they run. mine never did, not a drop at all.
