Tire Size
I just bought a '98 Trans Am that has 235/55/16 size tires all the way around. Everywhere I've checked says that is the correct size for a non WS6 car, but my door sticker says 245/50/16. Even tire shops come up with the 235's when doing a search for my car. Any ideas. Thanks

I believe there were two different tires you could get. You could get the performance tires 245/50R16 or the non-performance 235/55R16. That's what I've heard. It would make sense with the gearing too because I got the "performance" ( RPO code GU5 ) rear end and the 245 tires.
EDIT: What rims does it have? The chrome ones that look similar to WS-6 rims or the other ones. I thought only the chrome ones got the 245's?

There was 2 different tire sizes for plain Z28's & plain T/A's. And A4 2.73 car has nothing to do with it.
The 245 tire was like a tire performance option. If your car came with 235's it did have a steel driveshaft but the most down fall on 235 tire cars was a speed limiter at like 105mph.
My buddy had a 99' M6 Z28 that came new with those 235's and he had the speed limiter and steel driveshaft.
Peace,
Craig.

Just to re-state, stock gears have NOTHING to due with getting 235 size tires. My 2.73 geared car came with 245/50/16 Z-rated tires from the factory.
There were actually two different 245 tire options. You could get the all-season high performance Z-rated tires in a 245/50/16 (Goodyear Eagle RS-A), or the summer-only high performance Z-rated tires in a 245/50/16 (Goodyear Eagle GS-C).
As far as I know, all the V6 cars came with the 235/55/16 tires.
