Can't Catch A Second Anymore

Here's the deal, I've only had my 01' Z28 for a little while now. What I'm trying to figure out, why isn't it screaming a second anymore? I haven't changed anything at all. Even though it isn't catching a second anymore, it seems to be a hair bit quicker. I don't know, maybe I'm wanting to think it's quicker now, lol. It's completely stock, except, the guy I bought it from, he put SLP exhaust and lid on it, also, it's an automatic. The only thing I might have changed is using different oil and different gas than him. Could it be quicker now compared to when it used to catch a second?

has the car had regular maintenance(fuel filter, plugs, air filter)? if you havent replaced them yourself, you might as well. very cheap, keeps the car at its full potential, and reduces the chances of a failure.

Pfft, join the club. My A4 has NEVER chirped second, even with the 3.42's I can't do it. Of course, I also have 275/40/17 tires with lots of tread on top of with heavy ZO6 rims...so that could have something to do with it...
I can get the rear end squirrely on the 2-3 shift at ~60 mph...which is kinda cool...but I can't get a chirp!
Check your trans fluid level. Perhaps you've somehow lost a little bit of fluid. If your fluid is a tad bit low, it'll soften your shifts. The 4L60E doesn't hold a lot of fluid, so I'm told if you're a little low on fluid, it isn't good for the trans. The pan in our 4L60E's is very shallow and there isn't much reserve fluid. That's why this winter/spring I'll be upgrading to the truck 4L60E pan that holds an extra quart or so and has a drain plug.

I'm gonna get a tune soon over my Christmas break for school, and I'm hoping getting it tuned, plus the colder weather and the new 3.42's will allow me to chirp the 1-2 shift...hell, even the 2-3 would be kinda cool

yea my car will spin into 2nd..it never did that until i got the performabuilt trans. It would chirp goin into 2nd gear once i got the 3.42's before the trans tho...And with the old 2.73's, and the old transmission if my tires were starting to get pretty worn every once in a while i could get it to chirp second...

i normaly have to let off when it goes into second. mine hits hard and thats how i like it! pressure is set juuuuuust right. need a 6 speed though soon. A4 is getting a tad boring for my taste. what the hell is "scream a second" or "catch a second" anyways. thats kinda a weird way to word it.

Uhh... with the old tires it would lay a good 15, 20 foot patch of rubber goin into second and chirp third. With new tread, it chirps second and HOOKS hardcore into third. That's with a 3.42 geared A4 with most major boltons.

To me, it sounds like everybody assumes that I have a M6. I have an A4 with 2:73 gears. For everybody who doesn't understand what I mean by scream a second or catch a second. I mean for the tires to squeal into the next gear. Scream, catch, scratched, squealed, squalled, chirp, snaked, whatever you wanna' call it, lol. Thanks everyone for ya'lls info, I'm gonna' change or replace what everybody said to do. Thanks again.
