It could be your fuel pump. Mine started to "chug" at the top of gears at WOT. Now it has turned into more of a total loss of power up top. I hooked a fuel pressure gauge and it dropped like a rock at WOT. Does it do it in all gears?

i had the same problem....
first my fuel pump went out on me, so i figured that was the problem... put a new pump in, and sure enough, it wasnt the problem...
next idea was to get rid of my check engine light that was for the heater in my drivers side o2 sensor... still no fix to the problem...
next idea was that my cat was clogged like crazy, so i bought a cat off of a friend and put it on there to find out the original cat was hollowed out... not the problem...
next idea was to check out the MAF sensor to make sure it wasnt sendin crazy readings or somethin like that, so i just bought some MAF sensor cleaner, not the problem
next idea was that i was gettin bad spark, so figured id change the plugs and wires, even though i was told it had been done before, and after all of that mess of ideas, the plugs and wires seemed to have taken care of my problem... so you may want to dig in and either go see if you can get any codes pulled from your car to make sure there arent any, and after this start working your way through systems that could corrupt the burning of fuel, such as the stuff i changed out, and also could be as simple as a fuel filter, totally clogged air filter, bad plug wire, or anything small like that...
also, i would check the fuel filter and start cheap on finding the problem and work your way up... but as soon as i got the car the previous owner had a brand new fuel filter sitting in the car, so i put that in the day i got it... but that would have been one of my options if i hadn't already replaced it

the feeling i got when i would floor it was sort of a lack of power and although it wasnt like jerking your head back and forth, you could just tell that it was slightly cutting out and losing a lot of power, and mine would do it throughout all the gears, but i couldnt really notice it as much at all after i got through second and into third just due to the fact of the high speeds

but hope this helps you any... and also, if you do try replacing your o2 sensors, since you have a ls1 and 4 o2 sensors, the back two do not alter the fuel that is sent, but the front two do
tryin to think of anything else to add, but cant think of anything at the time

are you loosing traction when it bucks? it doesnt sound like a problem with the engine or trans since it only does it when traction could be lost.

Sounds like a fuel pump.
Or maybe your ECU?

trap door is when you cut a nice hole in the back of your car to get to the fuel pump. A fuel pump from gm will cost you ~$500. Search for fuel pumps elsewhere and they can be found for $120. Labor is what kills you unless you do it

Bucking is usually missfiring so check for a bad spark plug wire.Even though you changed them, you have headers,if they're too close they could burn..Check fuel pressure 1st
