Default Just put on Magnaflow catback

It has a nice, deep sound to it. I like it. I now have an MTI lid and Magnaflow catback. What am I probably making to the wheels now with the lid and catback? ET?

Sweet. I just put on my MTI carbon fiber lid and have been looking at magnaflow catback exhaust. Let me know how you like the combination!

Any idea where to get the best price on magnaflow catback systems?

Pat

I got mine used locally for $125.

I really like the sound of the Magnaflow. I'm going to put on some high-flow cats next.

Damn! Nice going on the price.

I have been interested in the magnaflow's for the reason of wanting something different. I had flowmaster 50 series delta flow on my hemi ram, the sound was so-so. Need something more agressive for the camaro

I'm sure you've heard Crapmaster. Magnaflow is way better than Blowmaster.

What were you expecting? A lid and catback aren't going to add much. Probably more than 7rwhp like stated though. More like 15-20 I would think.

I bought my car with magnaflow cats and pacesetter headers on it and get lots of compliments on the sound, but I live in a small town, not many modded cars around to compare too, 'cept for a few civics with fart cans.

As stated above I wouldnt expect to see much more than 5-7 rwhp with lid and catback. 15-20 rwhp would be if you had done headers and ory with the catback and lid. Also, you have to remember you had a 98, which has the worst flowing heads by far of all the years and an ls1 intake. Guys who see 20-25+ rwhp with headers/ory/catback/lid are usually those who have 01-02 ls1's as they had the best flowing heads and the ls6 intake. Dont be dissapointed though, just all the more reason to toss a cam in there!

Read my sig... i went from 9.4 to 8.8 with cb and free mods! I have not re-ran the car yet with the addition of the vinci tuner. The magnaflow setup does get louder after 2 to 3k of break-in miles.

Magnaflow sounds awesome on all setups IMO. I ran a magnaflow catback with headers/ory/232-238 cam and it sounded sick. Really tones it down while still providing a nice rumble. Best exhaust I have ever heard though was a true dual setup running no cats, x-pipe, and borla XR-1 bullet mufflers run out the back of the car. That would be my choice if I could have any exhaust with a dual setup with magnaflow mufflers being a close second.

Congrats on the install. I bought my car with a Flowmaster kit on it and the damn thing rusted. Magnaflow is pure stainless steel so it will never rust and fall apart like POS aluminized steel. Take this lesson further, don't get coated headers that will rust... get some stainless headers!

I hesitate to put a Magnaflow or a LM2 (more aggressive sound) on my car (I currently have the single exhaust for the export version) but I don't know which one is the best. I have also ordered a SLP air box and will modify my MAF personnaly from 75 to 85mm. I will wait for september for more infos from the forum to know what else I will modify.

pretty much same setup as you - lid, catback, and tune and I ran a 13.07 @ 106

If one was stock like the OP and went for a new Y-pipe like the SLP one in addition to the catback, would that help out with freeing up a little HP?

Maybe an additional 2-3 rwhp, but you would probably be better off just gutting your stock cats and making your own catless y-pipe. I would say just save the $100+ (not sure what the slp y-pipe costs) and put it towards some headers and ory.
