Default Header Question

I'm looking at maybe purchasing some SLP LTs, just wondering what the difference is between the headers for 1998-99, 2000, and the 2001-2002 headers. They are all listed seperately on SLP's website. I figured from 1998-2002 they would all be the same header and fit the same as well.

Thanx

The 98-00 headers have air/egr fittings whereas the 01-02 do not. I would look into different headers than slp though as they are notorious for hanging lower than most other headers. I suggest kooks stainless headers as they are a better design and their fitment is great.

Haha yea I couldnt remember which one thats why I put a slash between the two. No EGR due to the LS6 intake not having the god awful rubber hose jutting into the intake manifold that the 98-00 ls1's had. Thanks for clarifying!

although race style have no egr provisions or air so if your going that way theres no reason to worry about the year. also imo the slp headers are way too much money for poor clearance and fitting issues. i'd say read up on some ebay stainless or pacesetters if you want bargain or go all out with kooks

Pacesetters are a whole lot cheaper, and fit better than the SLPs. We have the SLPs on our 00, and they hang down too far.

I have Pacesetter headers on my TA and QTP headers on my Camaro and I prefer the Pacesetters. They make it easy to get to the #8 plug where as the QTP ones its much tougher to do

As stated, the main differences are AIR/EGR fittings. Evidently SLP has a newly designed header because the old design flat out sucked. Also, if money isn't an issue stay far away from pacesetter or any other header that's not stainless. There is no point in wasting your money on a coated header only to replace it in a few years when it rusts out...

Yes, they're very good quality. American Racing Headers are also excellent quality.
