?¿¿? Gas Milage
sup gang, i just bought a 06 goat m6 with 51 thousand on the clock (pretty high i know). but i love it. I'm just very curious about the gas mileage im getting. when i first got the car i was averaging about 15 to 16.4 city and bout 20 hwy. but that has dropped dramatically low since. im now at 12.5 @ most city and 15 @ most hwy any great explanation as to why this may be will be very helpful. thanks in advance.

thats what im thinking but the dealer says it doesn't need it due to the fact its not at 100k. i think he's full of bs, i've been thinking of doing a tune-up though. thanks for qwik response.

um yeah dont wait till 100k to do a tune up, if i were you i change the plugs, wires, fuel filter, check the air filter, check tire pressure and all the other basic stuff that can affect gas mileage. although they may not be that bad it really doesnt cost to much to do, better to do it know and not wait for something to go bad like a clogged fuel filter, that sucks.

ehtanol also tends to gum up your plugs faster too, as well as the fuel filter...id definately go for the tune up...the dealer is proabably saying no because they dont want to have to do it for free...when your there, also have them check the bolts holding the rear axle in place, they are allen heads i believe...ive seen an 05 GTO that had most of the bolts loosen, and the remaining ones snap at 4 grand on the highway...needless to say it was a very bad situation, and to make it worse the axle tore the rear brake line in half! so just a precaution to take...rather safe than dead i always say...good luck!!

1) Ethanol is a cleaning agent, it's not going to gum up anything. 2) Max ethanol concentration is 10%, an engine cannot run on 20% without being modified, and 3) ethanol, while reducing gas milegage, only does so by about 2-5%, it's not going to make you go from 20 mpg to 15 mpg.
Questions for the OP:
1) Are you romping on it more than when you first bought it?
2) What octane are you using?

where i live, (hawaii) the ethanol gums up carbs, especially on motorcycles, as well as eats through the fiberglass gas tanks on boats, so i know for a fact that it does gum up certain things

I'm getting 18-20 city and 28-30 highway and this is with a M6 and 358 rwhp and running 3.42's so you can do it! But if you have got your foot buried most of the time you won't!

02s
seafoam in the gas tank
then get a tune. and then complain about the mpg cuz ur car is too fast
oh and the dealer is full of crap.

Maybe the carbs were gummed up to begin with, you are incorrect about ethanol gumming things up. I'm not certain about the fiberglass though maybe it does have a negative effect.
