Default How do you test for a bad fuel pump?

I think the fuel pump in my Formula is bad . I have heard there are ways to test them without taking them out. How do I do that?

I'm taking it down to New Era Performance Monday so they can take a look at it. They have a fuel pump tester there, but I was just wondering if there was something else I could do before I have them look at it.

Yesterday, I went to go and start it, and a second later it stalls. Tried it 3 times, and all were the same. As long as I give it gas, It runs.. but as soon as I let off it, it stalls .

Anyone else have something similar to this happen to them also?

Thanks,
- Mike

Most likely not your fuel pump if it runs at all.

Check your fuel pressure and go from there.

That doesn't sound like a fuel pump problem, more like an idle air controller or PCM problem

I am sorry if you can put long tubes on your car.

So you're taking it to a shop tomorrow and here it is 9pm and you're asking for advice on how to test ****?
What kind of car is it? 94 formula? 94 camaro? what? Parts stores are closed, how are you going to fix anything if you do find the problem?

I was trying to figure out what the problem was before I took it there. Its a 94 Formula. And to be pretty fair.. I was asking for help at about 7 for finding where the IAT and IAC are located. Thats all I was asking..

IAC is on the throttle body. Should be able to take it out and if it's caked with carbon clean it or get a new one and clean the passages in the TB. The IAT shouldn't be the problem.
