The main reason I want to get rid of it is because it makes my exhaust pop until it turns off. If I just cut the hose from the pump, will it throw a code?

If you cut the house going to the pump, you will introduce an exhaust leak into the system. The house runs to the exhaust manifold. The best thing to do would be to remove the system entirely using the block off plates mentioned in the write up. Good luck. - Pat
