LS7 swap??
So my motor has been abused! (previous owner, wrong N2o set up) and I'm feeling as though once i get my chassis, and driveline sorted out, it'll be new engine time. And I'm thinking if I'm going to go through all the hoops to drag out the old motor to refresh it. why not pick up the crate LS7 and have a 427 lurking under my hood once said and done? has any one done this? or would I be better off rebuilding my ls1?

an ls7 is gona cost you 13k, for 505 hp. dont think i havnt thoght about that one, look into an ls3 crate, you could find one for about 6 to 7k and have a litlle money left for some mods

yea as stated above 13k is too much, unless you found a used one for a steal... me personally, for 13k id just forge my bottom end and slap a procharger on the mother effer.

as stated, you for the cost, you can build a better, stronger, more powerful motor for significantly less money than an LS7.
then you don't have to mess with the dry sump oilling system.
several vendors even offer 427ci block for reasonable costs if you REALLY wanted the "coolness" factor.

u guys are crazy.
ls7's have been had for 7k. the ls7 has way more potential once you can find one in a resonable price.
ls7>ls3 for the same price.
otherwise for 3k you can do a stock bottom end 6.0 with big cam, stock l92 heads, and carb style intake and look near 450 at the wheels

7k for a long block ls7 or short block? If long block, that is a killer deal. For short block, **** that, you can buy a forged motor from a sponser here for 3-4k (forgot who is was), and throw some good heads, healthy cam, and a fast on it for the same price. The 3k stock bottom end 6.0 is a good combo as well though, there is one guy around here on tech running a 364 cu in, tr 224/224, AFR 205s I believe, and I forgot what intake...making like 476 hp and 444 torque. That is a cheap, effective, streetable build right there.

well, that answers my idea. Looks like it'll be an ls3. Any one running the lsx iron block? seems like a good thing to put in the garage and scare small children with as I apply the bolt on's slowly.

You guys are opening up my eyes up to the LS3's.... 500-550hp with just cams and exhaust for 8 grand sounds hard to beat... WOW!!!!
I am in the beginning stages of an LS2 swap but am now wondering if I should crate up this LS2 of mine and re-sell it go for the LS3 instead... Are the dimensions the same when comparing the LS2 to the LS3?
