I did a little wrenching in the last couple of days. Actually, I ripped a whole lot of stuff off. This was the boring part. Now it's time for the fun task of putting stuff back together. Here are some pictures of my progress.

thanks guys I will relay the message when I see him. I don't know if he wants a roller or a whole car really. I thought shanes whole car would be a good match since I already know he loves blowers and shane has that truck block. I may see him tonight

The engine had a knock. I thought that it was just the header hitting the subframe. It wasn't. Apparently, there was contact between the piston and valve, and the rod broke near the crank. The camshaft has a slight marring on the back of one of the lobes. I'll get a picture up of it soon. I'm not planning to use this cam anyway, but I'd prefer it not to be destroyed.
I'm halfway looking for a used 408 rotating assembly. I found one in South Louisiana, but I really don't need to spend the cash right now.
Some forged flat top pistons in 4.03 would be great. Kittlers could easily bore this block to a 370. I can get those pistons new around $600. That would raise my compression from the dished pistons that came with the LQ4 without milling the head any. I also could see if I could find someone with an LQ9 who is not going to use the factory pistons. Throw those in with some rings and move along. That would be the cheapest/easiest route.

Damn Hilton it looks like you came and got the short block out of my back yard. Same rod broke close to the crank and hit a valve. Looks like we are twinkys lol.

What are you going to do with yours? Want to go recycle them? I've got that block and a Volvo 5 cyl block that need to go. How much do you think we can get for them?

I sold the block, heads, truck oil pan, intake and alot of other stuff to a friend for 20 bucks. He welded the hole in the block and got another valve, piston, and 2 rods and is putting it together.

Well i borrowed a spare from a friends LT1 car and its very small125/70/15. A LS1 car has a 135/60/16. Now lets hope i have good luck and dont need a spare.
