Are any lt1 guys using their Msd opti to retard timing?
I'm cammed with bolt ons and have walbro in tank and 30lb injectors. I am installing a Hsw single wet shot. I'm probably going to do a 125 shot. In the past I've never messed with timing and never had problems with detonation running a 100 shot. It seems that adjusting the timing yields the best results so I'm trying to figure out which way I want to go.
I want to know who has used their msd opti to retard the timing. The msd is apparently adjustable +/- 7*. So I will either use my opti or I will go with a msd digital 6 or mallory ignition box. Just don't want to buy the box if I can just use my opti to take care of the timing.

I would buy the mallory 685 box. I believe you can find it for around $250 and that way when you are running on motor you still have full timing. Then when you flip the switch to arm the nitrous it will pull out however much timing you want (I think up to 15* in .2 increments)

doesnt' msd still make a dash mounted switch that will retard timing??? kinda like a **** with increments of 1* all the way to like 20*????
I know they used to cause my buddy had one on his mustang.... seems like the easiest solution. Or buy a digital 7 box and you can do it internal to the box. Not sure about MSD 6 series ignitions though...
