Default What could I use to monitor knock and timing ?

Just like it says I would love to have something that allows me to watch my knock counts and see my timing, when I am spraying, what do you guys suggest? What is out there?

I have the Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge. It displays Everything the Computer monitors ie.... Knock, Timing, RPM, IAT, Trans Temp, Water Temp, Misfires, etc. Check out their site to view the entire list of parameters is displays. Also has 2 red led lights in it that can be set at shift light or warning light for any parameter. Can set each light to a different parameter. Even can record selected parameters during a run. Love mine...
Down side....expensive new. But keep an eye on the classifieds, thats where i got mine.

You could also check out the ScanMaster.... not sure what all it does..

I also use the interceptor gauge. You can add Fuel Pressure reading to the gauge. If you are running a wideband you can also hook it up to the Interceptor. You can then log 2 parameters on a run. I log A/F and KR on runs.

Why monitor knock?
If it knocks then its already to late, once it starts detonating it wont stop til you let off.
Read the plugs and they will tell you laot more than knock sensors and widebands.

OK, I will learn as much as I can about reading plugs with juice.

BUT I still want to be able to watch my timing, maybe I am just old school (my Chevelle has locked out timing, with a MSD adjustable trim pot, that I, and ONLY I, adjust)

Knowing that the computer may be changing my timing on me at any given time drives me crazy.

The guys are right about using the idea of looking for knock to varify tuning being very dangerous. That is not the way to tune but on a street car it is a affective tool for the simple fact you can see if the car is picking up any degrees of knock and how much it is seeing. I would not use that tool for dialing in the tune up but it does not hurt having it.

I will tell you we have seen stock cars from the factory showing knock so.... Food for thought.
