Default Is 18 deg timing low for a H/C 130 shot?

Just trying to find out why my car only made 510. N/A she usually makes 400/350 tq, with 25-26 deg. Today i paid to make 3 quick dyno runs to see if she picked up any power from upgrading 3an to 4an noid to plate hose line and 62/33f jets, so she was on the 18 deg tune..
Base pass she made 374 n/a and the other 2 passes on the shot she only made
510/470 tq. AFR's where mid 12's, considering it was 88 degrees outside but still, i think she would had done better than that..
I read on ls1tech how some of the big nitrous guys recommend low timing with leaner mixtures but i dont think thats really working on my case or something else its amiss??

i'm spraying through a Nitrous Outlet 90mm plate

Every setup is different but pretty much none of ls1 cars I have tuned on a 150 shot ended up on 18 degs. Did you pull any plugs or how did you determine it needed 18 degs of timing?

just went by the 2 deg for every 50 shot rule of thumb and also by ATVRacer s 'recommendation of less timing and leaner afr's

I see you have a PI 3800 converter. That converter is fairly loose and even more so on nitrous. If it wasn't locked it will hurt dyno numbers. I would take it to the track and make some passes and see what the et and mph are. I would probably put about 2 degrees back in it and make a pass and look at plugs. Put a BR7efs in it if you don't have already.

yeah ^^ , on motor she likes it even leaner, around 12.9-13.0's. I'm trying to follow what the experts say "you gotta give her what she wants" I even heard that what she wants n/a for air fuel its the same she would want on the dope..

I wouldn't try and dial it in on a dyno. You are already in a safe range so take it to the track and dial it in there.

thanks killr. She's already sporting the br7's. The 3800 vigilante was sent to FTI and they restalled to a 3200 and told them to tighten up for nitrous. I would pay someone to help me tune the car at the track by pulling plugs and making adjustments as needed, but everyone around here that I know only use dynos to tune and don't bother pulling the plugs.. and quite frankly I would rather pay, this car is a p.I.t.a specially on passenger side, it takes me 7 mins on drivers side and god knows how long on passenger's side, the 2 back holes are killer.

Find the fast nitrous guys at the track and offer food, beer, cash whatever and they'll probably take a look at it for you and offer suggestions

Unbolt the coil pack brackets on the passenger rear and move them out of the way. Makes it much easier to get to plugs and only takes a minute to unbolt them and back when you are done. Like he said find some hardcore nitrous guys at the track and they are usually glad to help.

Not that i'm going to do it without proper plugs reading, but will 2 or 3 degrees of timing give me the 25+ i'm running short?

Your going in the right direction with the right attitude. I would think you will end up 21-23* put 1 degree in and check plugs keep going while mph climbs and the plug stays in check .in the 1/4 i like the timing about 3/16 from the tip but have run it to the bend closer to the bend the more sensative it will be to air conditions.

I also agree it will like 12.8-13.3 NORMALLY

If it needs 3 yes. when your close to the right tune on a 150 shot 1 deg is 6-10 hp or so.

Your doing just fine, dont try to get every last HP out of it on the dyno because it will change at the track anyway.... might even want to put a little fuel in it before the track, most dynos can not simulate the load the car puts on the motor. your nitrous dyno pulls probably dont last 9-10 seconds like a full pass at the track.

Dont be in a big hurry, baby steps and it will live and run fast.
