Will retarding timing eliminate oil-consumption caused detonation on the spray?
If I use the Timing Tuner to retard timing about 5 degrees on a 100 wet shot, will that have any effect on eliminating the knock caused by oil contamination?

personally I would fix the excessive oil problems at all cost. I would not attempt to "fix" that problem in that manner. Go right for the root cause....youll enjoy the car alot longer that way

i would have to ask how do you know you have "oil contamination"? if you are using more than a quart in 1500 miles i would fix the issue. as to the carbon build up on the pistons N20 cleans it up pretty good when sprayed. this is normal build up but if you have been using oil for quite sometime i would follow the GM specs for a top end clean first before spraying. also for a 100 shot you don't need to retard the timing... only colder plugs gapped to .040 or so.

I know I'm consuming oil because the low oil light comes on every 1000 miles, the plugs are covered in burnt oil residue, I see smoke at WOT, and my A/F is tuned in.
I'm doing a compression test on all of the cylinders to find where the oil is coming from. I pray to god that it isn't the rings.
