ls9 cam with nitrous????
I have a 98 f body with 01 long block(241heads). I bought a ls9 cam and want to run nitrous outlet plate kit. I've been thinking of advancing the cam a few degrees to bring the power range down some when not spraying. How far advanced can I install this cam? The way I understand it, cams with overlap are susceptible to reversion. Is my cam with negative overlap still susceptible? I was wanting to advance the cam more than ordinary (6+deg.)
Im stuck with this cam for now so I want to set it up to work as well as it can. Ill be swapping to 5.3 heads (706) that should put me close to 11-1. This is my whole setup:
01 ls1 stock
Ported 706 heads shaved ~.020
ls9 cam
1.8 rr
25% underdrive
150 shot nitrous outlet plate kit
long tube 1 7/8 3" collector
Any technical advice will be appreciated.

No need to do anything with that cam but install it straight up. That baby cam aint going to sufer down low. And not sure what you mean about overlap. Tons of guys running nitrous with 10+ degrees of overlap and making killer power, running fast *** ET's all while doing it safe.

Yeah I should have picked a different cam. It was a bunch of mistakes all in a row with my credit card lol. If I can set it up and still get good torque out of it then that will be fine. Ive been reading that the ls9 cam loses as much as 40 ft lbs down low and doesn't catch up until 4500. My high compression may make up for some of that idk. Looking for expert cam advice.

What are the specs of the LS9 cam? My 227/235 110 LSA cam doesn't feel like it lost anything down low, and then comes on like a raped ape around 4 grand. I have no before dyno numbers, but the dyno graph shows looks right on par, in regards to low end torque, to what other bolt on LS1's put down.

Many guys have used it for nitrous use on here and if I remember correctly the moderator Camscam had an ms3 in his car and went low 9's with it. It's at my shop right now. The cam was supposed to go in an ls1 for a customer and he was going to hit it with a healthy dose of nitrous but plans changed and he decided to build a stroker.
