Default 370 nitrous build

Hey guys. The ls1 let go this morning. Time to start on the 370. I will be running the heads I have as long as everything checks out on them when I pull it apart. I'ma bout to start gathering parts. This is what the plan is. Let me know what you think.

Lq9 iron block
Bored to 370
Stock crank
Stock rods
Wiseco flat tops
Prc as-cast 225 heads
I may do a decent set of H beams depending on the budget
Victor jr efi intake
4 barrel throttle body
I will get a cam specific for this setup
Th400 rmvb with brake with a stall specific for this setup
Arp rod bolts and head bolts
All this ran with holley hp efi

This will be in a 88 mustang coupe 3050 lbs with me in it. Plan on hitting with a 200 shot throw a plate kit. How does this sound. Called Texas speed today. With the wiseco flat tops and with the 225 as-cast, compression should be around 11.3-1. What do yall think?

I'd say if you can afford the rods, go ahead and do them. As long as the tune-up is good, the stock rods should be fine, but it's always better to have forged rods if you can, especially if you plan to up the shot over time, which I'm suspecting you will.

Yes I'm sure I will. Probably won't go more than a 300. I've been researching. Idk if I should stay with the ls1 block and do good rods and pistons or start with an iron block. What yall think.

Iron block. Aluminum blocks tend to flex and warp with the heat from nitrous over time. You could do a half fill to solve this but then your inviting even more heat in.

It's referring to filling the block. When you 'fill the block', you fill the water passages generally with a concrete type mixture. This will make the block stronger and helps keep the cylinders walls from warping and cracking. There are several products on the market for doing this, one of which is called HardBlok.

What are some of the downsides to doing this?

Extra heat on a street car. Since your filling the lower half of the block to prevent core shift theres no coolant there. So the Engine will run hotter. Running c16 or e85 can help negate this or if its a track car only it wont be an issue but a daily driven car that sits in traffic it will run warm.

Looks like one of the reason for going alumminum would be for less weight, so by doing this you would be adding weight back. So probably would be better to go with Iron block?

I would do rods, ARP rod bolts are honeslty useless on factory stuff as it been proven that you will have issues with the rods before the rod bolts when it comes to the factory stuff. Now if you go aftermarket, then do ARP of course.

That's a recipe for at least a 9.50 car if you can make it stick. You're going to absolutely love how that Holley systems runs the motor and the nitrous system. That will be a beast.
